Karisma’s Gourmet Inclusive® concept makes all of their resorts a top pick for foodies, but Generations Riviera Maya stands out for the way it deftly combines upscale tastes with a family-friendly sensibility. For example, as part of Generations’ Little Eko Chefs program, kids can visit the on-site greenhouse to pick and taste the fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit used to create the resorts’ signature dishes.
When you think of all-inclusive dining, the first thing to come to mind is probably the ubiquitous buffet. But banish that thought—here are three award-winning restaurants that are at the forefront of the all-inclusive epicurean revolution.
Generations Riviera Maya’s Wine Kitchen
At the Wine Kitchen restaurant, dishes from the various wine regions of the world are accompanied by regional wine pairings. An extensive wine list crafted by expert sommeliers, along with Karisma’s own private label selections, has earned the resort the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. But even at their wine-themed restaurant, the resort also goes out of their way to provide a variety of non-alcoholic delights and special concoctions for the kids. (Dinner only, no reservations required)
Simon Mansion at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana
You really will feel like a rock star eating here. At Simon Mansion, “Rock n’ Roll Chef” Kerry Simon fuses rock and roll excess and haute cuisine in a menu featuring innovative appetizers, dry-aged meats, local seafood, an extensive sushi menu and luscious desserts.
The restaurant itself is cleverly composed of several decadently decorated rooms meant to portray in the mansion a rock legend—dining room, living room, bedroom, bathroom, library, studio and patio—three of which serve as private dining rooms. As far as the staff is concerned, that rock legend is you, and their job is to pamper you. The surreal and entertaining setting is great for groups, and worth it despite not being part of the resort’s all-inclusive plan. Whether you’re staying at the Hard Rock Hotel or another Punta Cana resort, we definitely recommend a visit. (Dinner only, reservations recommended)
Live Aqua’s Hidden Garden
If Simon Mansion makes you feel like a rock star, Live Aqua’s Hidden Garden will make you feel like royalty. Each of the resort’s seven restaurants are delightful, but this one has really stolen our hearts with its magical outdoor setting filled with candles and surrounded by lush greenery.
Words really can’t do it justice: it’s like finding Shangri-La in the middle of Cancun’s hotel zone. The service here gets nothing but rave reviews and the pan-Asian menu—featuring several aromatic Thai and Malaysian dishes—has been described as “seductive.” (Dinner only, no reservations required)
We could keep going, but we’re too hungry now to write anymore—but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Excellence, Sandals and Couples as three other resorts known for their culinary prowess and commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
