I love deep sea-fishing, but sometimes you have to take a long boat ride out to where the fish are. That's not so in the Riviera Maya, which is why I particularly love deep sea fishing off of Maroma Beach. You get on board right at the marina, and the fishing is excellent just a few miles out from shore.
Now I was just hoping to catch dinner, but if you’re traveling with a serious sport fisherman, the deep sea fishing here is some of the best in the Caribbean. The fishing is always good, but if you’re looking for a specific trophy for your wall it's best to go during the right season:
- Spring: white marlin, dolphin fish, blackfin tuna, bonita
- Summer: sailfish, blue marlin
- Winter/Fall: grouper, wahoo, amberjack, barracuda, kingfish
