Going on vacation doesn’t mean you’re not going to bump into a few minor cuts and bruises, just like you do at home. But they won’t take away from your trip if you take a few minutes to prepare for them when you’re packing. There’s no need purchase a fancy, prepackaged first aid kit. There’s a few items from your medicine cabinet I recommend packing that won’t take up a lot of space in your luggage but will make for smoother sailing.

Obviously, you should tailor your kit to your needs. You won’t need bug bite ointment on a ski trip, and you’ll probably need more than a few band aids if you’re traveling with toddlers. A travel first aid kit will make your vacation just a little more enjoyable when you don’t have to take time out of your sightseeing to find a pharmacy. Chances are you won’t need to use it, but it will add to your peace of mind, especially when traveling someplace unfamiliar.

Experienced travelers, if you’ve got good vacation first aid tips, share them in the comments.
