Funjet’s #Teach2Beach: thanking teachers, one at a time
Funjet Vacations proudly announced a winner of our Teach2Beach giveaway last week. Rachel Swick from Lakeview Elementary in South Milwaukee will be packing her bags for four days of an all-inclusive getaway at the luxurious Royalton Riviera Cancun in Mexico. Ms. Swick was among over 1000 teachers to be nominated for the prize in honor of Teacher Appreciation Month.
Ms. Swick’s nomination came from Karla Wolverton, a grateful mother whose son Brandon is the second child in her family to have Ms. Swick. “My son has always struggled with learning but she never gave up on him. She spent countless hours finding ways to help him with not only learn, but socialize,” she said. “As a parent I thought it was me who was failing. I had doctors tell me was autistic and had attention issues viagra sur paris.”
Wolverton added that Ms. Swick never gave up. “She saw past [the challenges] and kept working with him and pushing him, knowing he was capable of more. Turns out, he is not autistic and didn’t not have attention issues… He just need that little extra attention that Ms. Swick provided. Because of her, there are no more tears from him or I at homework time, he’s participating in class, and he has more friends to socialize with. I will be forever grateful for Ms. Swick.”
Funjet Vacation’s Teach2Beach program was designed to reward teachers who work hard and inspire students all year long.
“We’re happy to support teachers and their commitment to the future of our children,” said Bill LaMacchia, Jr. chief engagement officer of Funjet Vacations. “After a long, hard school year, there is truly nothing more relaxing than a getaway to the Mexican Rivera and we couldn’t think of anybody more deserving than educators in our community. I am positive Ms. Swick will come back refreshed and ready to get back to the job she loves.”
Ms. Swick was, understandably, touched by the nomination. “I come to school, I love kids, I love to laugh, I love to watch kids grow and learn – and how wonderful that somebody felt [that I was making such a difference].”
A huge Funjet thank-you to Ms. Swick and the thousands of teachers that touch children’s lives every day.
