Earlier this year, we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Month in June with a giveaway vacation to Royalton Riviera Cancun for one special teacher in Wisconsin. Rachel Swick from Lakeview Elementary in South Milwaukee was that lucky vacationer! Check out the original post here.
Ms. Swick enjoyed her well-deserved relaxation at Royalton Riviera Cancun right before getting back to her students in August. Here's a bit of what she had to say:
"The Royalton was really nice. The room was super ... I stayed on the beach the whole time so I had lots of ocean views. The food was terrific. Anjeles made me the most delicious, fresh, tostadas for breakfast everyday. I couldn't try anything else for breakfast. She was the best! All the restaurants were great. Mediterranean, Italian, Seafood. . . The wait was no more than 15 minutes. Just enough time to have a drink at one of the outstanding bars. The martini bar was a favorite!
"Of course, the highlight was the beach. I woke up everyday, sometimes at sunrise (that's the teacher schedule in me) for a walk on the beach or went straight to my lounge chair or my cabana on the ocean. Had some breakfast and spent my day the way any teacher that is rejuvenating would; reading not one, but two terrific books by J.K. Rowling (one under her pen name). Then Jorge would make some eye contact with me starting around 11a.m. and bring over a delicious mojito/pina colada/hurricane/mango tango, etc. I'd clean up around 5p.m. and it was off to dinner and the evening.
"What a marvelous way to escape what can be the absolutely craziest time of summer/back to school time. I did go into my classroom in early August to make sure everything was ready, but it was so exciting to be traveling those days right before the school year started. I was TOTALLY RELAXED. Why does it feel so long ago already? I just had a ball looking at these few pictures again and reliving the warm, loveliness that was FREE! THANKS to the #TEACH2BEACH prize and Brandon's Mom, Karla.
"Thank you for appreciating teachers in what can sometimes feel like a very unappreciated profession. Every teacher I know is kind, loving, giving and totally dedicated. This reward made me feel like someone really cares! I can't tell you how marvelous that is."
