When I go on vacation, it would be ideal to completely unplug and leave my technology at home…but that’s just not the case! Occasionally I find that I need to check my email (or maybe even upload a few pictures to show my friends what I’m up to). Thankfully, technology and travel aren’t like oil and water – they mix easily when you use these tips, so you can stay connected and still have a relaxing, rejuvenating vacation!

First of all, did you know that you can stay connected without getting an international phone plan? Watch the video to find out how, plus what to know about Wi-Fi!

Second, I always make sure to set aside a time to log on and get a few things done. I like to get this out of the way first thing in the morning so that I can enjoy the rest of the day without worrying about a thing! The key here is to set a start and end time, so that you only spend time working for an hour or so, and then you can put away that phone and concentrate on catching some sun.

Third – and maybe this goes without saying – don’t forget your charging cords! It’s so easy to forget these little cords in the whirlwind of packing the perfect outfit, but it’s such a bummer to realize you can’t re-charge your technology. I actually have an extra power cord that I keep in my suitcase all the time so that when I pack, I don’t have to remember one – it’s already there.

Most importantly, remember that you’re on vacation and you really don’t need to be glued to a screen all day. Just put it away so you can enjoy the scenery, sip a drink and connect the right way…with the ones you love.
