Hyatt Hotels and Resorts may be a newcomer in the all-inclusive vacation category, but they’re jumping in feet-first, acquiring existing resorts and adding their characteristic hospitality and a focus on local culture and unique activities both on- and off-property.
Hyatt only needed to make a few touch-ups, tweaks and upgrades to the former Barceló Cabo—built in 2009—before reopening it as the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. The property’s all-inclusive plan now includes 8 restaurants (2 buffet, the rest à la carte) entertainment options, daily and nightly activities, a fitness center and kids club. Along with complimentary Wi-Fi, each room also features a giant flat-screen TV with internet accessibility.
The Hyatt Zilara Cancun, formerly THE ROYAL Cancun, is the flagship property, situated in one of the Hotel Zone’s best locations. This is also a relatively new property, originally opening in February 2007. It's well-loved by Cancun travelers and the transition to Hyatt has been smooth. Here you'll find a truly incredible beach, excellent dining and top-notch accommodations.
In November 2014, the 387-room Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall and 234-room Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall will be opening after an extensive $80 million renovation and expansion of the Ritz-Carlton’s former Jamaican property. These two resorts located on 5,000 picture-perfect acres sound like they won’t be skimping on the luxury, with beach butlers and rum sommeliers on call and the championship White Witch Golf Course nearby.
And finally, opening in 2015 is the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, taking over the former Dreams Cancun property. Originally designed by renowned Mexican architect Roberto Legoretta, the resort’s pyramid-style construction is an iconic example of the contemporary Mexican architecture that defined Cancun’s development in the 1970s. In addition to restoring this architectural gem, Hyatt will be reconfiguring the resort to create a more village-like atmosphere for easy access to the beach, entertainment, dining and other resort amenities.
We’re looking forward to seeing more from these properties in the near future. Meanwhile, if you’ve stayed at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos or Hyatt Zilara Cancun, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
