Visiting downtown Cabos San Lucas these days, you’d never know a hurricane had hit just a few months earlier.  The bars, restaurants and shops around the Marina are up and running, and the clubs are packed at night! And yes, the Starbucks at the Los Cabos airport is open again.

Hurricane Odile hit the Baja Peninsula back in September, causing some damage to the area’s renowned resorts, beaches and golf courses. Although many visitors may have been scared off, most resorts needed only a few weeks to recover. Many of them used that time to make updates and improvements, making now a great time to plan a vacation to San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas.

Posada Real Los Cabo updated their lobby and buffet restaurant and added new lounge chairs and palapas in their outdoor areas. Barceló Grand Faro Los Cabos began welcoming guests again in October, but took a few extra weeks to remodel the resort’s main lobby, sky bar and sushi restaurant. Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos reopened in mid-November, welcoming guests back with a festive atmosphere that included live Mariachi music in the lobby.

Pueblo Bonito’s Los Cabos resorts also reopened mid-November, but they’re still looking forward to the grand opening of the Quivira Golf Club in December. This Jack Nicklaus signature course is one of two new courses opening this month in Cabo, bringing the total number of golf courses in the region up to 14.

A few of our favorite resorts are taking some extra time to make additional improvements. ME by Melia Cabo will open in March 2015, and Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is expected to reopen in May. The Westin Los Cabos Resort & Spa, reopening in June, is not only remodeling, but completely reinventing their spa with a new signature concept for guests to enjoy. And finally, Melia Cabo Real plans to reopen in July.
