Beach vacations include sun, surf, sand and SPF...which all equals sweat and skin-clogging gunk! What this means for you is that your skincare routine must be in high gear. Keep your skin healthy, fresh and clean with my three useful tips!

  1. Cleaning and unclogging your skin is very important after a long day in the sun. Look for cleansers with descriptors like, "exfoliating daily face wash," as these will slough off the dead skin cells, dirt and grime. Also, when I travel, I always pack my Clarisonic facial brush. This truly can be your best travel buddy as it removes excess oils, impurities and dead skin cells. I consider it one of the best investments that can be made in a skincare routine.
  2. The sun not only dehydrates you, but it also dries out your skin. One of my secrets is using unrefined coconut oil as a body moisturizer. You may think I've gone "coconuts" saying this, but unrefined extra-virgin coconut oil is very healthy for the skin. It contains lauric acid, which is antiviral, so not only is it an all-natural moisturizer but it's great for acne-prone skin.
  3. Most important in your skincare routine is - you guessed it! - sunscreen. Not all sunscreens are created equal. My favorites are those that contain titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as the main ingredient. These types of sunscreens are a "physical mineral block," which means they sit on top of your skin versus being absorbed. They are typically nonirritating, hypoallergenic and available in a lotion or a powder form. I like Colorescience mineral sun protection.
  4. So remember: cleanse, hydrate and protect your skin against harmful rays and pore-clogging grit! After all, prevention is the key to that good ol' fountain of youth.
