The active Texas natives came to Weddings by Funjet with a very specific vision for their big day and Concierge Carisha was up to the task. Bride and groom, Britt and Brian, were looking to combine a traditional Catholic ceremony with the simple exotic beauty found in Mexico. El Dorado Maroma quickly became their front runner, the elegant chapel and intimate experience was exactly what the couple wanted for their big day. As much as this day was about celebrating their love, their priority was to immerse themselves into the culture of Riviera Maya, and have a relaxing vacation with friends and family.
Meet Britt and Brian.
Britt had put a lot of thought into the wedding details and sent Carisha a helpful Powerpoint of exactly what she wanted for her big day. This made her planning a breeze since she gave Weddings by Funjet a clear vision and outline of the type of destination wedding experience she wanted, and it allowed her to enjoy a truly customized day to represent her and Brian as a couple. There were just the right touches for both.
“Most important aspect is that everyone relaxes and has fun. I don't want people running around and not enjoying it. This is why we chose destination, so we can all relax and have fun!”
The Wedding Rehearsal
Britt and Brian wanted something fun for everyone when it came to the rehearsal. After gathering with the bridal party at the chapel to walk through the big day, they met up with guests on the beach for a fun bonfire. Guests got a taste of what was to come while enjoying a lovely taco bar and roasting marshmallows for s’mores.
The Wedding Day
You could feel the excitement rising as they got ready to walk down the aisle. Our local partners, DeGroot Film Co. were onsite to capture every moment. The couple’s faces say it all, their love and joy of starting the next chapter was contagious. Everyone was looking forward to the celebration.
Britt spent the morning in the spa with her bridesmaids getting her hair and make-up done before going back to the room to get ready. Before heading over to the chapel, the couple shared an intimate moment while reading letters they had exchanged with each other.
The ceremony took place at the beautiful chapel at the resort, which the couple tastefully had decorated with draping to accentuate the beauty of the venue. Britt’s vision had come to life but their real crowning moment was their reception.

The Wedding Reception
From the very beginning, Britt wanted to make sure the reception was exactly what she envisioned, a fun celebration where their guests can come together and have a great time. After a last minute venue change to Popitos, the palapa restaurant, the party enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by dancing. Brian took the reins with the music and put together the perfect playlist to get everyone out of their chairs. They worked with a local outside vendor, DJ Mannia, to get the party going. They got exactly what they wanted, a great party with all their loved ones. Everyone was dancing, laughing and had an amazing time.
The Love Story
Britt and Brian met in high school, Brian was smitten but Britt didn’t even talk to him. It wasn’t until after college that Brian worked up the courage to reach out to Britt over Facebook after she had sent him a friend request. She was already infatuated with his humor from the things he had been posting but their first date planted the seeds of love. They have been inseparable ever since.
After 3 years together, Brian had planned to propose during a vacation they had planned. On Easter he realized it wasn’t worth the wait and surprised Britt by proposing right before their dessert arrived in front of family!
Q: When did you know Brian was the one?
A: “I knew Brian was the one when I thought he was more funny than me. I hold myself pretty high in the entertainment/comedy arena and I think he is just hilarious and a goof. When I started to think he trumped me, I knew I had a keeper.”
Happily Ever After
Now happily married, Britt and Brian will walk away with a week of memories with their loved ones. They will continue to stay active enjoying their free time doing half marathons, keeping up with her TV addiction, and going to concerts. They also have a new puppy that has added to the joy as they embark on their next chapter together.
Q: What was your experience like planning your destination wedding with Weddings by Funjet?
A: It was easy and very helpful when navigating all the choices and locales!
Q: Do you have any words of advice you would give couples planning their destination wedding?
A: At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if all your flowers are in the exact spot you thought they would be. What matters is the love shared in the room with all your friends, family and new spouse!
Q: What was your favorite part of the resort?
A: The people! They are so kind, hard-working and overall such a pleasure to be around!
Q: If you could do it over again, is there anything you would do differently? Why or why not?
A: I wouldn't do anything different, which is a GREAT feeling.
