April 22nd marked a special day for one of our Weddings by Funjet couples, Mark and Megan! Last week was their 1 year anniversary, and what better way for us to raise a glass to them than share some of the beautiful moments from their destination wedding at Finest Playa Mujeres last year.
Megan and Mark are an unforgettable couple. Not only are they a perfect balance for each other, they both are equally wonderful people separately as well. Together, Meg and Mark are kind, patient, grateful, and downright funny! Because of this, Megan and Mark will always hold a special place in my heart as a wedding planner. Throughout planning, we quickly became great friends and it made for an easy wedding planning journey from start to finish. I even had the opportunity to travel with Megan for her wedding to ensure all of the details were just right for the big day.
Megan and Mark were joined by dozens of family and friends from all over the United States to celebrate with them on the beaches of Mexico. It was easy to see how loved they are, and I am sure to this day their guests are all still raving about the amazing wedding they had!
Megan and Mark’s wedding celebrations started off with casual ‘kickoff cocktails’ on Thursday. The next day followed with a welcome party at the Finest Sky Deck. We toasted with Braza-ritas and indulged in endless chips and guac. The sunset that night was truly remarkable, and it made for the perfect backdrop for group photos.
The day of the wedding, there was surely someone looking out for Megan and Mark from above because the forecast called for a really strong chance of rain in the afternoon. Luckily, the skies cleared and we were able to continue on with the wedding plans we had worked so hard to coordinate for them. I had a great time working alongside the Finest Wedding Team, and Alquimia Events, the in-house coordinator to ensure everything was exactly to Megan’s wedding dreams.
Megan and her bridesmaids had a great time taking photos and getting ready before the ceremony. Let me tell you, Megan was such a beautiful bride and her dress was absolutely perfect for a destination wedding!
The wedding ceremony was picture perfect at the Stone Gazebo; beautifully decorated with just the right amount of décor to compliment the Caribbean Sea behind it.
After Megan and Mark said their vows, the group began the celebration for cocktail hour and reception at the Grand Palapa.
Meg and Mark started off the reception by having their first dance to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne. The rest of the night, the party didn’t stop. The dancefloor was filled with everyone enjoying tequila shots and their favorite college-era throwback songs. Even though the reception concluded with the group singing to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”, the party continued late into the night at the resort’s bars.
Cheers to a very happy first year, Mark and Megan! Looking back on your special day was so much fun. Wishing you many more years filled with love and adventure together as Mr. and Mrs.!
