Uplighting for Wedding Receptions

Alquimia Events, Cancun and Riviera Maya's premiere decor company give our destination wedding planners and couples inspiration for uplighting through brochures and their online gallery. Slight touches with string lights that your budget allows can give your wedding venue quite a makeover. We love the versatility of lights and the romantic atmosphere they create at night on the beach with the sounds of the waves crashing into the shore. In the tropics, we encourage couples to consider their Plan B venue option, and how decor will transfer to the backup location. Lighting can take any ballroom from drab to fab! I recommend checking with your DJ to see if they have the ability to change colors throughout the night for an extra touch on the dance floor.

Green is the New Black

Even though greenery was Pantone's color of the year last year, it's still trending in the destination wedding space. There are many ways to incorporate greenery into your wedding, and the au natural look is hotter than ever in the Caribbean. I love the idea of placing small pieces of extra greenery in welcoming places like the dinner napkins at the wedding reception dinner or scattered throughout miscellaneous tables for your guest book, gifts and the wedding cake table. Britt and Brian chose a stylish way to display greenery in the center of the wedding reception tables pictured below, and the full spotlight can be found here.

Wedding Day Itinerary

It can be tricky for guests to navigate a resort complex, especially if the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will be hosted at different locations. Make it easy on them and display a wedding day itinerary with locations, start times, and duration to serve as a quick refresher. For my destination wedding couples reading, I suggest an 8 x 10 frame, easy to travel with and easy to set up.

Share Your Wedding Ceremony Vows

According to WeddingWire's 2017 Newlywed Report, only 36% of couples create their own vows, making your decision to add a special touch to the ceremony quite simple. If you decide to dedicate time to writing meaningful vows, give them the attention they deserve and put them on display for guests to see. Go dramatic with a large scroll, or place two small frames at the guest book table.

Wedding Day Chair Decor

Resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean offer options to upgrade the look of your wedding day chairs with beautiful fabrics. There are 100+ ways to wrap and tie fabric to chairs, and they can add a gorgeous, yet subtle touch to the set up at the ceremony. One thing to consider is the time of year you decide to get married in the tropics, some months are breezier than others and fabric flying in the tropical breeze can be distracting in the final results of your wedding photography.

Tell Your Love Story Through Table Numbers

Give your guest tables an extra conversational piece by using table numbers to share special moments in time in your relationship. Pick numbers that correlate well with special dates in your journey together. For instance, 5 may be the date he first asked you to go out with him, or 9 may represent the days it took her to call you after you first met. Every couple has memories that are molded into the relationship and that will last a lifetime, share this with your guests and encourage them to feel all the feels alongside with you.

Wedding Dinner Menu Display

Worried that your wedding reception dinner tables might look a bit bare? Fear not. I suggest adding dinner menus to the tablescape, which will add depth and dimension you can't find in any other decor element at your reception dinner. Most importantly, it gets your guests hyped up for the delicious meal they are about to enjoy.

Ribbons on the Bridal Bouquet

Okay, I can guess that you are swooning over this gorgeous bouquet just like us, but honestly our favorite part is the gorgeous cascading ribbons.  The ribbons add a distinguished characteristic to the bridal bouquet, and if you are looking for a boho or beachy wedding theme, this is the perfect touch. Bridal bouquets with such character can easily be transitioned from bouquet to head table centerpiece at the reception to get the most out of your budget.
