For Lindsay and Bobby, choosing to marry on the breathtaking Jetty, seaside at Velas Vallarta with a backdrop of the Sierra Madre Mountains was a no-brainer. One of Marina Vallarta’s most exclusive areas of Vallarta-Nayarit set the tone for the ultimate 4-day celebration leading up to “I do.” Add in a gorgeous couple and the absolute sweetest flower girl being showered with love by close family and friends all the merry week long, and you have a destination wedding that took on a whole new level of friendship, romance, and good ol’ Midwestern fun.
Meet Lindsay + Bobby.
All the feels began long before wedding planning with the romantic love story that will surely make you believe in serendipity like ever before. Bobby's daughter, and pride and joy, was only a year old at the time the couple went on their first date. Sparks flew as soon as Lindsay and Bobby met validating love-at-first-sight believers, "The second I laid eyes on him and Layla, I knew that they were made for me. When you know, you know." Bobby compliments her response by explaining his first impression, "I knew Lindsay was the one as soon as I saw her with Layla. We had built a life and family together long before we were officially married."
When Lindsay first came to us in June of 2015, she already had the style, colors, destination and resort in mind but needed support in pulling all of the details together to create the illusory, seaside destination wedding of her dreams. Her concierge, Brittany, quickly became more than her wedding planner, but a friend and confidant throughout the planning process. Shortly after they began on the wedding details, Lindsay and Bobby decided they didn't want to travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for their destination wedding without Brittany by their side, and requested for Brittany to travel with them to destination to make sure every little detail came together as they envisioned so they could remain as charming, gracious hosts. The "Come Away with Me Package" was designed with the purpose of the traveling concierge to watch over the details of the days leading up to the wedding day, and the big day itself, so that couples can enjoy all the special moments with family and friends without stressing, "The best decision that my husband and I made while working with Weddings by Funjet was deciding to bring our Concierge, Brittany to Puerto Vallarta for our destination wedding. While the hotel was fabulous to my husband and I from the second we arrived - having a direct representative of Weddings by Funjet present held more clout than we could ever have!"
The intimate, oceanfront ceremony took place on the Jetty at Velas Vallarta right before sunset with waves crashing in on the rocks, surrounded by 35 closest friends and family members. There was something about watching a bride and groom that emanate a once in a lifetime kind of love toward one another that gave all in attendance a sense of peace and serenity. The natural beautiful scenery was softly complimented by pops of coral and teal in the sheer chair ribbons and in the bridesmaid and groomsmen attire. Lindsay and Bobby worked directly with the Minister to personalize their ceremony script, adding in a sand ceremony to include their daughter Layla, and poems like The Art of Marriage by author Wilferd A. Peterson for a special romantic touch.
Cocktail hour followed seamlessly with appetizers and a premium bar at the La Ribera Garden as the photographer rotated guests for pictures with the bride and groom on the beach terrace facing the ocean. Romantic songs echoed in the background embracing the spirit of the unique destination of Puerto Vallarta at sunset. The wedding guests were guided to their tables at the perfectly-lit reception on the beach. The wedding events flowed easily in its exclusive corner of the resort, making this a private event for the wedding group only. The evening was filled with many tear-jerker moments of champagne toasts, special dances, a live performance by one of the bridesmaids and the release of Chinese lanterns to honor the remembrance of loved ones that have passed. All emotions aside, they celebrated and danced the night away!
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Britton!
From the bride...
What was your favorite moment on your wedding day? I have thought about this a lot, I am not sure I have just one favorite moment from our wedding day. The entire day was perfection. I love that we had a big family breakfast on our wedding day where all of our guests could spend time together before we started to get ready for the day. I loved being able to spend some special time with my ladies in the salon where we laughed, cried, and really just enjoyed some quality time alone. I was able to have a few moments alone with my Dad before he walked me down the aisle, which I will treasure forever. The moment that made me the most emotional (which I am sure is the same for all brides) is the moment that I could see Bobby and Layla waiting for me at the end of the aisle. There is nothing more magical than that moment.
Why did you choose Puerto Vallarta? Bobby has the travel bug and I have inherited it from him. We had both never been to Mexico and after I started working at ALG Vacations Corp. we did some research on the best place to visit in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta quickly was at the top of our list. It is a destination so rich in cultural diversity and natural beauty- we knew we had to go there. After visiting and seeing the Malecon, the mountains, the beaches, we knew we needed to be married there.
From the groom...
What was your favorite moment on your wedding day? Having all of our friends and family surrounding us on our wedding day was the best part. For Lindsay and I, being able to live out our dream of being married on the beach by the ocean surrounded by them, was amazing.
Why did you choose Puerto Vallarta? I wanted to be on the Pacific Ocean, on the beach, near the ocean. Those were my only request. It just so happened that we loved the Velas Vallarta when we were there the first time. It worked out perfectly.
From the couple...
What are some of the reasons that made you decide on Velas Vallarta to host your wedding? Velas Vallarta was the first and only resort that we have stayed at while visiting Puerto Vallarta. The first time we were at the resort we were blown away by how beautiful it was, how fabulous the food and drinks were, and the impeccable hospitality that we were shown by every single employee. Nowhere else will you find hospitality and such a high level of customer service, than at the Velas Vallarta. We immediately felt welcome and at home there. During that first visit, Bobby and I were relaxing on a beach and we watched as employees set up for another wedding. We watched the hustle and bustle of the wedding planner, the set up crew, the DJ, etc. Finally, we watched the wedding take place on the jetty from the beach where we were sitting. It was magical. The ocean, the mountains in the background, the beach, the sunset- it was everything you would ever want in a destination wedding. We looked at each other, and knew in that moment that was the exact location our wedding would be. And it was. Even now after our wedding as come and gone we can’t wait to return to the Velas for our next vacation- a part of our heart will always be there. It really has become a second home for us in Puerto Vallarta.
