Meet Lisa + Tom.
Lisa and Tom's wedding was nothing short of an extravagant fairy tale. However, the fairy tale did not start out like most! A majority of the time, brides know exactly what they would like, style, colors, aesthetics, and it's wonderful for the Weddings by Funjet Concierge team to know this upfront because it helps us understand the couple's expectations and overall vision. What can be more fun is coming up with the vision alongside the couple. Lisa came to Weddings by Funjet with an amazing resort choice of Generations Riviera Maya, but beyond that she had an open mind to everything from color palettes to decor. Their Concierge, Katie Brierton, was ready to get creative and help Lisa and Tom create a memorable destination wedding experience.
Lisa and Tom were married in front of all of their family and friends in the breathtaking oceanfront chapel at Generations Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive, family friendly hotel a part of the Karisma family. Wedding guests were wowed by romantic blush floral arrangements, personalized vows, and a classical music string trio. There were not many dry eyes to be seen. Lisa and Tom streamed their ceremony live for those who couldn't be there at home, and a video drone that gave a live recap of all the entertainment and made them feel like they were not completely missing out. This was especially important, as among those guests watching at home were Tom's parents! Following the ceremony, guests were greeted with signature cocktails, hand selected appetizers, and stunning views of the ocean on the Sky Deck. Adding extra fun and entertainment, the couple had caricatures and a mariachi band to tie in the authentic Mexican culture!
Following the romantic ceremony and entertaining cocktail hour, guests were once again stunned by the reception space, held on a pier overlooking the ocean. The pier was adorned in; blush linens, fresh flowers and lavish gold décor. The space was softly lit with accent lighting and romantic candlelight that set the tone for an intimate and relaxing family style served dinner. After speeches and champagne, the guests were surprised with an incredible fireworks show over the water. Don’t be fooled by all the romance, Lisa wanted this to be a fiesta after all and the LED dance floor ended up as the main attraction. After burning up all those calories from dancing, guests found a special taco bar set up under the Pier on the beach decorated with traditional Mexican decor. It was important to the couple to host an elegant wedding, while still keeping the guests entertained by reminding them of where they were. What a fun way to do so!
One of the best parts of hosting a destination wedding is the fun doesn't stop after the wedding night. Lisa's main focus as the bride was making sure the whole week would be memorable for everyone instead of only the wedding day. Guests enjoyed a day at Maroma Adventures where they could choose to hang out at the beach - or go on an excursion. Swimming with dolphins was ranked the most popular choice. Lisa and Tom hosted a farewell Mexican lunch to make their family and friends feel extra special before their return home. Lisa and Tom deserved this fairy tale weekend - but they wanted to make sure their guests enjoyed it, too!

From the Bride...
When did you know Tom was the one? Wow that is a question. I wish I could say immediately when we started dating 7 years before we got married, but realistically he kept irritating me just enough that I thought what the heck am I doing. But I also couldn't imagine a day without him. Maybe that is when I knew he was the one - he frustrates me just enough, he drives me crazy just enough but every day he makes me smile and lets me know he loves me (actually that's basically what I said as my wedding vows).
What was your favorite moment on your wedding day? Another hard question this one only because there were so many. Probably my favorite is when Tom said his vows and from what I heard there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Even I started to get a tear when my 9 year old nephew took a Kleenex that Dolores gave him and run up the altar stairs to give it to me. You couldn't have rehearsed it any better.
What is your favorite date night activity as husband and wife? We love good wine, good friends, and meeting new friends in any venue where we can do that.
Do you have any words of advice you would give brides planning their destination wedding? Use your Weddings by Funjet team for any question - they rock when it comes to so many things besides just planning the ceremony. They have great creative ideas from everything from website design to invites to how to plan a few little extras. And don't worry about how many guests will be there - those that can will be and in the end it will be perfect.
