Absolutely perfect stay, stunningly beautiful hotel
Absolutely love this hotel. Location: perfect location, in the center of old town, walkable to everywhere. Ambience: it's as good as the photos if not better. Stunning lobby and rooftop, the room is beautiful down to every detail. Comfort: very comfortable bed and nice linens. Strong A/C which is very nice to have in Cartagena. Service: super friendly and kind. Bathroom and Shower: good water pressure and hot water. The bathroom is a little worn but it's beautiful and it reads more as rustic chic. I loved this hotel, it really is special!

Great location, service and value
My wife and I stayed here two nights. We wanted to find a nice hotel in the central part of historical Cartagena without spending a fortune at one of the top end hotels that are $300-$500 per night. Yet, this was our 20th anniversary, so we wanted something nice. This perfectly fit what we were looking for. This boutique hotel in the historical home of a wealthy family offered amazing service and helped with all our needs. The ambiance and even fragrance was incredible. I fact, we found the store that sold the fragrance and bought some to bring home. The room was spacious and clean with comfortable beds and fast enough WiFi as well as high end soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotions. The air conditioner also functioned well which is needed with the hotter temperatures. The decor was a great mix of former Spanish influence and indigenous Columbian. The rooftop area was well designed with a 1.4 meter deep soaking pool and an sitting area at the top which offered great views and sea breeze/view. The only two things that were less than excellent was that our shower only had mildly warm water and the cushion covers for the rooftop were being cleaned two of the three days which took away from some of the comfort and aesthetic of the rooftop. Beautiful hotel, fantastic location, great staff.
Loved this place and everything about it from the architecture to the interior design, the people and breakfast. Shout out to George who was very welcoming and knowledgable as was I have to say all the other staff. Would highly recommend. Ps the views from the pool are stunning and can use even after check out in the day, has a shower and bathroom to use too so can freshen up before any flight.

Not trustworthy lied about me to change the date of my booking and tried to charge me 4 months before payment was due
I booked this hotel well in advance over 6 months before and I was looking forward to my stay. All of a sudden 4 months before i get a note that the hotel says that my credit card is not valid. Firstly thisnis not true my credit card works fine. Also thenpayment is due for 1 night in august and we are in the begining of April. I contact the hotel and reregister my credit card stating there is nothing wrong with my credit card and the payment is due in 4 months why are they trying to charge me 4 monts before the booking.com rules say. I also get worried at this point that the will overcharge my card when they lie so blatantly how can I trust them after this. I also have a 9 night stay booked for a conference and I will be flying all the way from Europe. If they do not gain access to my credir card straight away the will cancel my booking. Then I get a new notice that says that the Amarla needs to cancel my 1 night stay and that I should stay with them the night after instead and also pay an extra 143 usd for the same room that I have booked that they now want to change to the next night. I am supposed to accept their change or not accept. I respond that I do not accept. The following night I will be on a plane back to Europe as this is my last night in Colombia. I get no response on my mails to the hotel and the next day I again get a notice from booking.com that my credit card, that is totally fine, is not valid and Amarla boutique hoten, will cancel my 1 night stay if I do not give them another credit card. By this time when my credir card is still totally fine I am of course not fine with ficing this hotel more than 1 credit card as they are obviously lying to get an access to my booking because they probably want to put another guest in the room. After this my booking is cancelled after they have not responded at all to 4-5 messages from me. I call the hotel long distance and when a lady answers and I ask if she soeaks english, she says no (in english) and after that pretends that she can not hear me saying hallo .. hallo.. hallo. I call back again and there is no answer. After this I spend half a night getting 3 hours of sleep looking for and booking other hotels for the night Amarla cancelled and also for the 9 night stay that I also booked with them. I writevthem a long message and also contact booking,com. Booking.com is the only one that answers and they write that although the booking is throuhågh them the actual booking is directly with Amarla hotel. I find other hotels that are available and after that cancel my 9 night booking. I would not trust this hotel with any of my credit cards or want to stay at a hotel that states that they are 5 star but actually are a 3 star according to tripadvisor. On booking.com it says they have a 5 star rating and judhements of 9.3. On tripadvisor they are number 139. I am sorry about that it seems that you can not trust this hotel. If you have made a mistake and wish to take in guests that boom after you have raised the prices you should be truthful and state this and not lie that the customer has a credit card that is not valid. Thisnis extremely dishonest and criminal to accuse your future guests that have chosen you and are looking forward to the stay. Just to say I am travelling in business with a business card that is working perfectly. It is this hotel that uses methods and lies that has no validation for what they claim. I feel sorry for the future guests of this hotel and hope that they will not be gaslighted and lied to as I have been.

Terrific Boutique Hotel with Excellent Service
My wife and I just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful boutique property. The stay was wonderful because both the property and the service were excellent. Our room—#1– was lovely, quiet and peaceful with high ceilings and a large bathroom. The common areas are beautiful and stylish. The rooftop pool was perfect to relax at. But most importantly, the level of service was so good, we felt like we were staying at a private Villa. Every morning, fresh coffee with hot milk was waiting for us before our run. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious. See photos below. For the price, you cannot beat the level of service or room amenities. We highly recommend this 6 room hidden gem. Special shout out to the wonderful staff, including our food server, Dorian; Otto who greeted us in the am and Eduardo and Claudia, who helped make our stay memorable.
