We Love Barra!
Keep in mind that there are 2 hotels named the same....one is on the beach and one is across the street. Both hotels have access the same pool and ocean view so the pool area can be quite busy. Helpful staff, lots of underground parking, but the rooms are in need of a refresh, noisy fans and AC, limited hot water and hard pillows. The rooftop bar is the perfect place for a sunrise coffee with no one else around. Beautiful sunsets and a village atmosphere in the Town. Lots of shopping and restaurants. Warning: the beach has a very strong undertow and the water is brackish. In November the Manta Ray babies are in the shallows so shuffling your feet will stop you from stepping on them, we were told. We did swim with no issues but most tourists are swimming in the hotel pools only.

Visit friends.
Location is everything for this hotel right in the middle of the action, people absolutely lovely and service is friendly and staff very efficient. Restaurants are abundant within a short distance, markets of locals with fruit, vegetables, fresh baked goods on every corner. However if amenities in the hotel are what you need scarce, no fridge, kettle, coffee maker without bargaining. Remember also only cash (pesos used) and no bank here have to go to Melaque, credit cards very widely not accepted.

Ok, but that is about all
Came off season (good time to do so). We had reservations. When we checked in as the reservation was made on line through a booking company, the hotel refused to give us a room (although available) on the beach side with a view. Got an "across the street" room with no views. Even offered to pay more for the change in rooms. The hotel elevator was not working. The "restaurant" did not exist, closed, empty. No amenities at all: zip, zero. The good news. It certainly was cheap off season. Since we were there for other than beach activities the stay was "acceptable" but with nearly empty hotels along the malecon (again off season) this hotel needs to learn how to do customer service. Would I stay here again. Nyet, nope, not a chance.

This hotel was super clean
This hotel is on the ocean with a lot of balcony's facing the water. The bar at the hotel was open on weekends and sometimes during the week day, they made great drinks. Everything was very clean, the location was right in downtown Barra close to shops and restaurants. I would stay here again. The local citizens were very nice and Barra is very safe with lots of small beach towns within 15 - 30 mins with more great beaches. There is a bus that takes you to some of the towns.

Good hotel albeit a little run down
Great location overall pretty good, beds super hard, hotel needs refurbished, clean but tired, pool needs retiling lots of tiles missing. Staff friendly Juan on front desk exceptional quickly organized a pool side upgrade and helped with luggage
