Not what I expected
We booked this hotel based on the website and the fact that my husband's family stayed there in the past, decades ago, and had a positive experience. The check in staff were friendly and efficient when we arrived. The hotel is dated and seems to be going through some renovation/construction/maintenance. The first room we were given had two double beds, when we had booked a king size bed. It wouldn't have been a huge deal except my husband is 6'6 and would not have been able to fit on the twin bed. The sheets looked stiff and rough and the air conditioner was loud. When we called the front desk they agreed to move us to another room with a larger bed. When we got to that room, I walked into the bathroom and could see the small window next to the shower open and a ring of mold on the ceiling. (My husband does water and fire mitigation for a living.) We called the front desk and they sent someone up who said they would just paint over the mold. When my husband told them that that would not get rid of the problem, they discussed moving us to another room. At that point I had had it. The furniture was dated and dinged and it was just all-around not a room you wanted to spend any time in. The complimentary coffee was also open on the counter. The hotel reimbursed us easily, which I appreciated it. We ended up leaving and booking a hotel elsewhere on short notice. Hopefully they will be able to do some updating in the future.

Don't stay here
Whole complex is grubby and dated. Facilities were not worth the resort fee of US$35 ( plus two taxes on top) per night. Carpet and paintwork in common areas was grubby and the wait for lifts was unsatisfactory many times with either one or two lifts being blocked off and unavailable for customers. Our apartment was lacking in both facilities and cleanliness (eg food splattered up the side of the fridge left uncleaned, ripped blanket provided for sofa bed). It was difficult to stop the kitchen tap from dripping and initially no plug was provided for the sink so we couldn't wash dishes properly and risked cutlery etc falling down the insinkerator. The can opener was poor quality and difficult to use and there was NO TRAY to use in the oven to put food in (only a shelf with bars) !! We bought garlic bread to heat in the oven and then had nothing to sit it on to cook it !! It would have fallen through the bars and burnt on the bottom of the oven. We also had no shower gel as the pump did not work ( pump was either broken or empty). We pointed these things out, but apart from the plug for the sink being provided, nothing else was fixed. There was also no spare toilet paper provided so we had to quickly request another roll from one of the cleaners when we ran out. We were also disappointed to find that rather than putting a "hold" of US$100 on our debit card the amount was actually taken from our account and then refunded upon checkout. This meant we have been charged an overseas transaction fee of nearly AU$5 which was unnecessary. Our son also had money taken from his debit card for his key to the gym and then it was refunded later but he also incurred a transaction fee. We stayed at many different hotels during our 4 weeks in the US and each time they put a "hold" on our debit card so that it was "pending" only and then reversed when we left. Each time we did not incur a transaction fee. Overall we were disappointed in the accommodation and service provided and would not choose to stay again in the future. I could not locate any direct email for the property but have emailed the reservation team for the chain of properties THREE times and have received no reponse.

Nice location, large rooms
It is an older hotel and needs a refresh; stained hallway carpets, slow elevators etc. But the rooms have a full kitchen and utensils, and BBQs are available in the swimming pool area : great for doing your breakfast or lunch in your room, besides BBQing outside etc. Service is a bit regimental and inflexible. Excellent location in Waikiki, close to the beach, shops, and bus stop
