    OK

We stayed in Avila for one night during our trip in June. The hotel was generally ok, located 10 minutes' walk from the Cinta Costera promenade where one can enjoy the beautiful panorama view of the city. Our room was spacious. The view from the window wasn't too eye-friendly but we didn't mind. Breakfast was tasty but served with a delay of a few minutes. The biggest disadvantage of the hotel was the Internet!

    Something in the middle!

Rooms are big and comfortable. Middle size bathroom with big shower with hot water is ok. Windows are good soundproof and in rooms from the street is quiet. Air condition is old and the smell isn't nice. Breakfast is poor. And Internet is very very slow!!!

    Pleasant and Affordable

Got a great deal and did not suffer for it! Well appointed room with a safe, free parking and a choice to include breakfast or not. Centrally located for our needs. Staff could be more personable but did not get that at the higher end establishments either. Best find was the tourist police. Most helpful any where I have ever traveled! Well done Panama!

    nothing special

This was an ok place to stay. It's not close to many restaurants and I was simply a guest there. The room was nice and the hotel was clean and well kept. There is nothing else worth mentioning about the stay.

    Big Dissappointment

I recently stayed at Avila Hotel for a whole week and was expecting a better experience. After arriving in town about 7pm I had to drive 30 minutes to get to downtown Panama City. Once I got there, it took over an hour to find the hotel (even after asking police, taxi drivers and others). When I finally it, I was upset to find their sign to be sooooo, small and too highly placed and inconspicuous. Upon checking in the process was pretty seamless however parking my car was a little bit of a challenge as it was located under the hotel. If you have anything bigger than a mid-size don't stay at the hotel. I saw a guy in a Mercedes have to do a 10-point turn to get out. Believe me it's tricky if you are not careful. Once I got my bags to my room I noticed the rooms to be fairly clean but dark. Went to turn on the TV and it did not work. It took a combination of pressing button on the tv and controller until it worked. I then went to unpack in the bathroom and was pleased that the bathroom was a good size for Latin America, had GREAT water pressure and hot water and all the amenities and towels needed, no complaints! However, the BIGGEST issue I faced is that during my 4th day at the hotel, I got up and headed down to have breakfast, work a little on my computer and was headed down to the parking garage to leave until I realized that I left something in my room. When I go to my room, I FOUND THE DOOR OPEN!!! Thankfully all of my high dollar possessions were with me but I realized anyone could have walked right into my room and steal my things. I immediately went to the front desk and they advised the housekeeping crew to shut the doors. However, because this hotel is located downtown and only a block or two from major gang ran neighboorhoods, I would not advised staying there. I cancelled my reservation the next day and moved into a better part of town. My advise, don't stay at Hotel Avila, it's not worth the hassle. I lived in Latin America for 10 years and am not complaining like an ignorant gringo, I am talking from experience and would not stay at this place! Oh hey did I tell you that on the same block there is a bar and prostitutes standing outside at night. Like I said don't stay at Hotel Avila.
