    Worst hotel in Punta Cana

    I have been to Punta Cana quite a few times. Been going there since Barcelo openned up 20+ years ago! I have to say that i have been to Bahia Principe properties before as well. In 2019 we visited Bahia principe La Romana(bouganville). Bouganville was an expecional experience. I have also stayed in the Punta Cana Bahia Principe Ambar property. Ambar property, again was exceptional. This particular property "Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana" was a bad! 1. The check in was way too long. they held all of us there for hours. At least two hours psent trying to get a room. Jaime was extremely lacksadaysical. Didnt give a crap. Told us that if we had complaints, to go to guest services. 2. The rooms we got for what we paid were crap. my room was a remodeled room. It did not have hot water in the show for 3 out of the for days spent there. I called several times. they said it was fixed, sure enough yes there was hot water in the shower. Then when we started taking said shower, the water went cold again. My wife and i had to take a show with two cups we found. We would fill them up with hot water in the small sink and would alternate these cups constantly to shower! The AC unit was leaking down water constantly and i had to put down towels so we wouldnt fall. My Daughters room though was good they had zero issues there. 3. Literally, this property smelled like sewer everywhere. Main buffet area smells extremely bad. very uncomfortable to eat at Orquidea due to the smell. The food was ok, the smell there would kill your appetite. Note that the buffet would run out of plates constatntly. we would have to wait for plates. We also saw roaches in the bread toaster. The cooks where however very uplifting as were the waiters, but i hate to think that they must endure the smell at this buffet. 4. The tram , golf cart operators were a pain in the ASS! they woulnt stop for you sometimes(note that i was even tipping them). I would get picked up and someone would yell out to them to stop at the staion, the guy would literally say " Voy a dejar eso gringo que caminen", they were Russians. But since i understand spanish i would tell the cart operator to stop and he would completely ignore me. So i stopped tipping them>> actually i stopped using that service all together. Note the this place is huge>> 3/4 mile ling at least. 5. Pool area also had no towels two days we went to the pool. Pool was very nice. But we had to air dry. in closing, i met a lot of good folks working there, but the few that wouldnt even crack a smile, ruined it for everyone. I would make sure that the mood is set for your future visitor for i would not come back to this property for issues listed herein.

    First time at a Bahia resort

    Grounds clean, well maintained outside. Food at buffet service indifferent and staff seem bored and annoyed. Only one night at buffet had good service by Antonio; he was awesome, attentive, happy! A la carte food better. Tepanaki delicious and entertaining. Service at other a la cartes somewhat better than buffet. Beach buffet for lunch was great with clean bathrooms but still indifferent service. Didn't use main pool; very crowded and extremely noisy. Often messy; guests don't clean up after themselves and staff can't or won't keep up. Beach also overcrowded; doesn't make for an enjoyable experience. Smaller pools need cleaning more frequently. Pool bars ok, need to do more to keep the wasps away. Enforce no smoking by pools; it's horrible to smell second hand smoke. Pool bathroom needs serious attention. Main lobby nice, lobby bar good. Fun atmosphere at night. Buffets often have an unpleasant odor but one gets used to it after a while. Guessing it's due to the multiple water features in lobby and humidity, rain. Lobby bathrooms wonderfully clean. Room was fantastic, had a renovated suite. Housekeeping didn't sweep and pretty sure they didn't change out towels one day. Replenished water and sodas in fridge though, that was appreciated! Lots of mosquitos and sand fleas unfortunately, made for a very uncomfortable few days, despite bug spray. Frequent trollies appreciated, especially in the rain! Trolley drivers polite and friendly. No interaction with any resort management, never observed anyone.

    Horrid Maze - Stay Away!

    I am currently at this 'resort' and it is terrible. The place is disorganised. The food is not edible. The staff don't care. The resort is huge and the signs for how to get around are incomprehensible. There is no room service and the buffet is far away. I needed some ice today because of a foot injury and the staff wouldn't bring me any. My kids are with me and we haven't had a vacation in a long time. All I can say is "YUCK"... stay away from this place.

    Terrible customer service and no ability to follow through on special requests.

    Rang up over 5 times before arrival to check that our family had rooms close together yet on arrival we were told in order to be placed together one of us would have to downgrade, my father is heavily disabled with a wheelchair and is 90 years old; they had been told this numerous times and yet made us decide between being on opposite sides of the hotel or one of our rooms being downgraded, we had no choice but to agree to a downgrade, they refused to refund the difference or offer any form of compensation at all. I would not recommend this Bahia Principe at all, we have stayed in many of their mexico hotels and this one was truly awful in comparison, what terrible customer service.

    World highly recommend it .

    I'm planning another trip in February 2025 again, this time with the family. The clerk Manuela was excellent for recommending the upgrade to the junior suite, it's was way worth it. Planning to rebook the the same room again. Thx. to Manuela again Looking to see you again.
