    Disaster, disappointment, avoid!

Avoid!Avoid! food quality, sewage odours, overcrowding, staffing levels, and room condition.Rooms old ! Need refurbished, waiting times for drinks 40 min every single bar, pls don’t drink from plastic cups they are not rinsed they are soaked in water after previous usage. Small part of beach belongs to the hotel overcrowded miracle to find the chairs it was hart breaking to see families with kids to try to find any space, pools dirty. Staff rude ignorants. Al carte restaurants serving exactly the same food as buffet the difference is decorative plates and table cloth. Food discussing, grilled burgers served frozen, frozen guacamole etc. The most important hotel has a problem with sewage smells odour in the bedrooms ,main lobby and main buffet ( not possible to eat anything) man’s toilet ( individual toilet got a bit for toilet paper and notes pls do not flush toilet paper so you can imagine what view you can experience ( obviously problem with sewage) entertainment boring karaoke every night! We have seen ppl vomit. That’s 1 star hotel.! There is only 1 good thing I can say about this hotel ( weather) Tui representatives response for my feedback pathetic, they are not interested, shame because I visited last year Bavaro and was amazing! Very disappointed with TUI they shouldn’t advertise in the high spectrum if there is nothing good to say!

    Bad experience

I regret booking a stay at Bahia Principe Punta Cana. From the moment we arrived, it was one issue after another. We waited in two separate lines for over an hour each just to check in, only to find that our room was not fully prepared. The walls are peeling, the tub is old and dirty with visible mold, the sheets are ripped, the doors are covered in dust, and the fridge doesn’t even cool drinks. Beyond the poor room conditions, the dining options are extremely limited depending on which building you’re staying in—something that was never made clear when booking. To make matters worse, the salespeople are relentless, constantly approaching us and making it impossible to relax. This has been one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a stress-free vacation, I would not recommend this place at all. Definitely will not be returning.

    Highly recommend

We traveled in February and really enjoyed this place. They had really nice pools and even though the hotel was full the pools weren't crowded. Take your own volleyball to play with in the pool. The beach is crowded couldn't find a chair till late afternoon. They had excellent shows at night. The a la carte restaurants are easy to book just download the app. The mosquitos are bad at night so make sure you bring bug spray and after bite. The people are very friendly there and the service is great. There a little village that has some entertainment and little shops. They have gluten free bread you just have to ask. I would highly recommend this resort.

    Wouldn’t go back!

Could never get a sunbed. When you was lucky to get one - go for lunch and someone had taken your towels off and using them! Communal toilets need updating badly. Al la carte restaurants were not! The Mexican was the beach buffet and they just put a place mat on the tables! Room was not cleaned with fresh towels on my birthday (14 Feb) and phoned reception 6 times to chase them. Made us late for my birthday meal at one of the so called Al la carte restaurants…. Would not return to this hotel

    Average Experience

We stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana from Feb 27 to March 6th. Starting with the positives. We were upgraded at no extra charge to the premium suites. These rooms have been updated, are spacious, and clean. Our building was the closest to the beach which was extremely convenient and we were able to see and hear the ocean from our balcony. It is a little loud at night as there is a restaurant open throughout the night. Tip: Roll up $1 bill in your empty beer can and put in the fridge if you wish to have a few extra for your room!!! We booked with Air Transit - great flight, leg room, inflight entertainment. We have gone with Sunwing before and it is not even comparable. I will never fly Sunwing again if I can help it. Food was good with a variety of selection at Buffetts. Staff were friendly. The resort is BIG but there were always shuttles to take you where you needed to go. Food and service at a la carte was good. We tried the Mexican, Japanese Teppanyaki, and Brazilian. All had a lot of food so eat lightly on those days. The highlight was the meat at the Brazilian. Book your restaurants on line on the app ahead of time or go early on day one to get decent times and selections. Some restaurants were adults only we had two teenagers with us so limited our choices. Would be better if the adults only were 12 and over. Now some of the negatives. 1. Mosquitos - we arrived at night and were welcomed by a swarm of hungry mosquitos ready for new blood. Standing in line waiting to be checked in be wary you will get eaten alive. They seem to be the worst up in lobby areas and make their way into buffets. Most of the action is in the main lobby but it is impossible to sit and enjoy yourself unless you want to dose yourself with bug repellent. Even with repellent they seem to find a spot to get you. We had a few in our room but did not bother us too much as we were close to the ocean and there did not seem to be many bugs down there. The bites are not like in Canada seem to be much itchier and swell up. Been to Mexico several times, Cuba, Costa Rica and another resort in Punta Cana and have never seen mosquitos like we did at this resort. 2. If you do stay by the ocean side the only Buffett open for breakfast and dinner are up in the lobby so will need to walk or take shuttle 3. Sewer smell. Yes there is a strong sewer smell mostly in Buffetts and main lobby area. It is certainly off putting when you are trying to eat. You do get use to it after sitting in it for a bit but it is one of the reasons I would not go back. 4. This is a very BIG and BUSY resort. If you want a spot at the pool or on the beach you have to set your alarm for 6am to get a good spot. By 7am you are likely out of luck. Chairs are stacked on beach like sardines but if you can get a spot Ocean was great. They keep beach very nice and clean. 5. A lot of extras at this resort. - Extra $ for late check out, additional selections at the a la carte, premium liquor. 6. If you book the Grand Punta Cana you will only have access to that resort. There are several other Bahia Principe resorts attached that would give you more access to other buffets, restaurants and pools. If you do try this resort suggest you book one of them. Would we go again - NO We stayed at Royalton Splash 2 years ago and would say that the diamond club option at Royalton and the smaller resort was more up our alley and better bang for your buck.
