Love this resort.
Awesome resort. Very beautiful and well kept. Very friendly staff, especially pool bar staff. Food and restaurants were very good. Rooms very roomy. Can't beat the price. Shows were great. Bring mosquito spray cause they are out at nite. Don't buy it there cause it is $30.

Overall Good!
We just got back from a week at the Grand Bahia Punta Cana (March 21-March 28). We went with a group of 14 (including our daughter aged 7 and 3 other children aged 5, 6 and 8). Check in was great, very friendly and quick. We did ask for a renovated room which they initially tried to upsell but we asked if we could have one without an added cost and they did. Lobby - very hot with no fans/breeze and FULL of mosquitoes. Yes the other reviews were correct. You don't feel them bite, but the next day you are covered in welts. We used mosquitoe repellent and it didnt help. I don't know why they don't spray/fog. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Lots of room to put suitcases etc. Bathroom only had a shower (which was fine). Beds only had sheets, it would have been nice to have a top blanket. Room AC worked great and shower was hot! Main pool and beach were beautiful but hard to find chairs. Middle pools were not busy, they were pretty empty and amazing staff at the swim up bars there. They do need more visible bathrooms in the middle close to the pools. Staff were wonderful! Very helpful and happy. Food was good, we always found something to eat. The A LA Carte Restaurants very very good. Main buffet in lobby....had an awful smell. The Food Truck and buffet at the beach were very good. Cockroaches....yes, we did see some on the paths at night. Very large ones. But the renovated sections we didn't see any. Overall it was a great trip and I would recommend:)

Restful vacation - almost 5 stars but minor things
Just returned from our holidays and we enjoyed our stay. I booked our trip with Air Canada vacations. I would give a 4.5 Stars but minor things that happened on our trip that I couldn't give the 5 stars. Our room was not ready at check in and we waited for almost an hour. When we got to our room, the bell men said to contact concierge since we are a family of 5 and would need extra linen for the sofa beds. Used the Bahia app for the service and we just got one blanket. We were very tired from the travelling, we managed with what was available for the night. I left a note for housekeeping the next morning and all the beds were made after we got back from breakfast. Our TV wasn't working as well and maintenance came within the hour. We were in the recently renovated units and our 2 Bedroom Family Suite was beautiful and very spacious!! Our king bed was comfortable. The water pressure in the showers were great!!! We had four opportunities to go to the A La Carte restaurants and I'm glad we went since the buffet food was mediocre after you have it daily. The food at the restaurants (Garden Grill, Takara, Thali & Tequila) were delicious. The Truck food service at the pool side was mediocre as well. The food was cold most of the time when we received it but we ate there everyday for "lunch". Most memorable moment - It was also my hubby's 50th birthday during the trip and staff in the buffet were great at arranging the cake and giving a few minutes of their time to sing for him. The pool and beach were FABULOUS!! All we wanted was to sit on the chaise or be in the water. Go VERY EARLY to get a good spot - people are out there before 7am. Several people approached us for excursions or to hear about their membership program - everyone was very nice and respectful when we denied. The variety of entertainment was great as well. The only disappointing part of the trip was literally at the very end of our trip at check out. I paid for private shuttle back to the airport and it took me 5 people to get my answer. Even one man that was a travel or excursion rep said 'why are you leaving it to the last minute, not very smart" -- How is it when I have paid back in November considered last minute. Then he pointed to a binder and told me to figure it out myself. So I did figure it out on my own, however the Air Canada rep eventually came and said the shuttle knows to come and I do not need to do anything - that is all I needed to hear. The staff throughout the entire stay have all been very helpful but I was very disappointed with that one individuals response and lack of assisting me. Still miffed as I write this.

Awesome resort
Great resort! Rooms are clean and gorgeous, and the balconies are very nice. Residents stay in a villa, amongst a village of other villas, and the gate at the front makes the resort feel very safe. Bahia Principe employees drive residents to and from the beach/pools on trams, which are very fun to ride on, and they arrive very often, and even operate late into the night. This was super convenient and helped us save a lot of time on our way around the resort. The food was good at the buffet although one buffet did reek of a seafood smell. But the a la carte restaurants were awesome, we loved the italian and brazilian restaurants. The staff at the pool bar were friendly and fun, and all around the staff was very receptive and friendly. Lastly, we loved the activities! Karaoke, fire shows, and themed parties made the trip so much fun. Would definitely stay again and recommend to a friend. But be sure to bring bug spray - I was okay but a few of my friends got bit up by the mosquitos.
