Family Vacation!!!
I can not stop bragging about this resort and how incredible it was!! My family enjoyed it so very much! However, what was most exciting and awesome was the kids club!!! Those ladies know how to make a family happy and the children well entertained and enjoy their time!! My granddaughter can not stop going on and on about her experience at thr kids club and how much she did!! And how many friends she made!! Everyday they did crafts, rehearsal for a nightly performance, trips to thr waterpark, the pool, mini chef 👩🍳 lessons, snacks, lunch, performances at night.. sooooo amazing!!! They even had a kids party at the end with a clown shoe face painting, waxing of the child's hands, fun snacks and music.. truly amazing!!! The kids club made our trip!! Those ladies go above and beyond!! I will definitely be back!! Family of four! Food, drinks, everything was amazing!!

Good resort for a family but some issues.
We went to the Grand Coba for a family vacation from Nov 6-13. 9 of us in total including our grandkids aged 4 1/2 and 1/1/2. Overall, we were pleased with the resort and staff and would certainly recommend it with a couple a caveats which I will go in to later. We have been to several resorts in the past but this was our first in almost 10 years so any comparisons our based from that era. The resort itself was great and family focused. Pros Nice grounds and well cared for with lots of wildlife for the kids to see. The kids splash pad was great but adults were not allowed to play on it with their children so made it limiting at times. We ended up not using it as much as we would have liked. Rooms were maybe a little dated but they were bigger than expected and comfortable. The only issue we had and it was consistent with our other family members is that A/C was not very good. My Canadian blood struggled with the heat for sleeping and at times we were sweating in the room. Staff were friendly and we never felt pressured for tips like we have at some other resorts(Cuba). Like all resorts, they work hard for the money and the vast majority did it with smiles. Staff were a big positive. Pools were great and well cared for. Buffet was absolutely fantastic and far exceeded all of our expectations. Massive variety of well seasoned and tasty food. Always fresh fruit and vegetables available and easy to eat healthy if you choose to.( which I didn't). The theater shows we saw were absolutely fantastic and huge improvement over the shows we had seen in the past.( If I saw that Michael Jackson show one more time I would have screamed). Very family focused and highly enjoyable. Big big plus Cons Room A/C is a big issue The quality of the alcohol drinks were among the worst I have ever had. I don't know if it was the mixes and syrups they used or the really cheap alcohol but they left a bad after taste that was horrible. This opinion was shared by every one in our group and by most people we spoke to. It is a shame that we travel to Mexico, the home of tequila, and the brand they served was terrible. It used to be a highlight of going to Mexico. The beach was borderline terrible although the drinks there were marginally better than at the resort.(good bar staff). Just be aware that the beach is a fair walking distance from the resort so you will end of taking the trams back and forth. Very rocky to enter and exit so bring shoes. The biggest downfall was no snack bar for Coba guests at the beach so you have to go back to the resort to eat. Makes no sense that the snack bars for the other Bahia Principe resorts on the water couldn't be made available for lunch. We really missed having more Mexican music playing, particularly in the lobby in early evening. Although I would recommend the resort for families we would not return as the cons outweighed the pros for us. They are so close to being excellent.

Coba for the win!
Coba, being the cheapest of the Príncipe hotels within the complex actually turned out to be our favourite. The entertainment team were great, Haz in particular. Jorge behind the bar, Victor sorting out our spa for us, and the evening bartenders at Pisces, the lobby and the entertainment bar outside were all incredible. We did visit the others, but found Coba to be the most exciting for entertainment and meeting people. The rest of the hotels were beautiful, but for a group of girls in our late 20’s, Coba was the place to be. I wish we could remember all of the other staff members names, but there were so many! All great, hotel was nice & clean, food was nice and entertainment in the evening was awesome. One thing that stopped this being 5* is that the room key stopped working for us 5-6 times. We had to keep returning to reception. Other than that, great stay and great vacation.

Good and Bad
Excels in areas but fails in others; Good: - Very good availability of sunbeds at all times - Whilst cheap spirits are used for all inclusive drinks, there is the option to ask for premium ones (ie absolut vodka) at no extra cost - Entertainment each night is of a good standard often utilising local bands Bad: - Staff generally pleasant, however they are understaffed in the a la carte restaurants and this has a notable effect on the service - Get the impression you’re an inconvenience at times - a waiter rolled his eyes when I asked for the steak to be cooked a tad more! - Buffet restaurant is chaotic and runs out of food if you go after 8pm at weekends. This needs urgently addressing - a simple time slot system would enhance everyone’s experience - Big reluctance to offer straws with drinks! - No offer of help to lift our cases up 3 flights of stairs upon arrival Despite this we did actually enjoy the break, probably would not return to this hotel but can recommend if you want a simple getaway

Best Kids Club
After reading reviews about the rooms, I was initially hesitant to go to Coba, but I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms, while a bit outdated, were clean and comfortable enough. The beds were on the smaller side and not the most comfortable, especially for our family with two young kids, but that was a minor issue considering the great amenities. The water park, pool area, and the beach (we preferred Akumal) were fantastic. The highlight of our trip, however, was the kids’ club and its incredible activities. A huge thank you to Juli, Valeria, Lia, Ami, and Cynthia for making our vacation so memorable! Our kids had the time of their lives—participating in a real circus show, talent shows, and engaging in lots of arts and crafts, all while making new friends. The kids’ club at Coba is the main reason we’ll be returning!
