Does Not hold to a 5 star hotel standard
The biggest negative, food is so awful.got sick and threw up The buffet has a strong smell very awful and unpleasant. The room was not clean, full of mosquitos. And not even the room we ordered. We had in our booking a king size bed, we ended up getting two separate beds We explained to the reception and after 2 hours of waiting got a room changed. He himself admitted that room he gave us had mold. Why would you give someone a room that you know has mold. If this is a 5 star, I fear to know what a 4 star or 3 star is here Absolutely disgusted If you order from room service to get something done or even bring a water bottle, they bring after a 6 hour delay. Absolutely horrible. I would never come here ,and never recommend to anyone else

Great Staff and Weather, but Several Frustrations with Food Quality, and Bugs
We stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana as a large group—three families with six adults and five kids, spread over 3 suites. While there were definitely moments of enjoyment, especially for the kids, there were also several challenges that impacted our overall experience. The positives were easy to appreciate. The weather was fantastic throughout our stay, and the resort grounds are lovely for walks and outdoor relaxation. The pools were clean, although crowded at times, but inviting, with enough space for both kids and adults to enjoy. The entertainment staff did a great job organizing fun activities without being overbearing. Most of the staff members we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful—especially those working in housekeeping, restaurants, and around the pool. Some of the bars served great cocktails, although quality varied depending on the location. Exploring a bit helped us find a couple of favorites. On the downside, check-in was slow and disorganized, despite having completed online check-in ahead of time. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and unfamiliar with the system, which led to long waits and confusion—not ideal for a group with children after a long tiring international flight, and everyone hungry on top of that. The main dining halls (there are 2) feel very dated and in need of serious renovation. We noticed scratched tables, chipped paint, dusty light fixtures, and a strong, unpleasant smell likely due to poor ventilation. On top of that, the buffet items were not adequately labeled for allergens or dietary preferences like veg/vegan, making meal choices more difficult for some in our group. The beach, though naturally beautiful, was often crowded. A large number of vendors selling tours and excursions were constantly present. While they weren’t aggressive, the repetitive solicitations for the same services added to the crowding and detracted from the relaxing beach experience we were hoping for. Another significant downside was the pricing in the on-site stores. Prices were extremely inflated, clearly targeting captive guests who may have forgotten essentials. For example, we paid $16 USD for a pair of children’s swim goggles, only to find the exact same pair for about $3 USD equivalent at Blue Mall Punta Cana the next day. A simple softball that might cost $5 back home in the U.S. was priced over $25. A single disposable shaving blade cost me $4—an item that could easily be bought by the dozen in the U.S. for that price. It’s definitely worth double-checking your packing list before arrival, because forgetting something will cost you. Mosquitoes were also an ongoing nuisance—even indoors—and made relaxing at night more difficult. And while the poolside snack option, the Food Truck, might seem convenient, it was hands down the worst food experience we had at the resort. In summary, Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana offers warm weather, friendly staff, and kid-friendly pools and entertainment—but falls short in several areas, especially for families. The check-in process, dining experience, beach crowding, and exorbitant store prices were major letdowns. With some operational and facility improvements, this resort has potential, but as it stands, it’s a mixed experience. Worth considering if your expectations are managed and your bags are well-packed

bad and overcrowded
Worst Bahia we have ever been to. Food was not good, sometimes even awful in the specialty restaurants. Beach was full at 7am as well as the main pool. No chair service when you could actually get one. Everyone one is lined up like cattle with no space between any chairs

Very old rooms, bad food
This was not so good for the money spent. We got an old room where bathtub worked poorly. Only good part was a comfy bed. Every evening 10 mosquitoes in a room bit my son badly. Food is such such a disappointment! Not much to pick from and not yum. Beach is excellent!!!! But good luck getting a spot. If your a white person - bring spf 100+

GBP Punta Cana - Worst stay ever
We just came back from our stay at GBP Punta Cana, where I traveled with my 3 teenage daughters. We decided to stay at this resort as we always stay at GBP hotels in the Riviera Maya an their service as well as amenities and activities are outstanding, we had the same expectations for this resort. Let me begin by saing that I very rarelyr write any reviews, unless it is for oustanding service and we want to recommend it to others. This , unfortunately is not the case. Everything jst went wrong from the moment we arrived, we booked our hotel rooms directly from their website, but to our surprise, when we arrived at the hotel, they culd not find my reservation, even though I had the confirmation email. The receptionst then called the reservations depatment and they confirmed it was cancelled by the system, claiming it did not go through and that I had to pay again claiming that in their system the transaction did not go through. I then showed the receptionist that the payment was already approved on my credit card , the call center agent said that they wold not refund me the first amount I paid until I paid for a new reservation again. As a mom travelling alone with 3 kids, and not knowing what else to do, I had no choice but to pay again. I spoke with my bank later and they did confirm the payment had gone through and that I should be issued a refund . 4 days later and many calls, Im still waiting to hear back from them to send me any type of proof that the refund has been processed. The claim they do not send any type of proof when they process refunds. Now to the hotel itself - the rooms we got, were very old, musty smelling, beds were dilapidated, one of them had rusty metal sticking out, full of mosquitoes, we even found a huge roach on our last night. I was just too tired and defeated after our check in experience to go and try to get another room. My kids just wanted to settle down. As soon as we arrived at arond 4-5pm, we went to the beach, but we had to go back to the pool near or room as they had no towels left, we then wet to the other pool, same thing, no towels either. I went to talk to the reception as my kids were already in the pool, they told me again, sorry but no towels, come back tomorrow. When I insisted they gave me towels, the receptionist walked to the back and gave e 2 towels, he said they were the last ones they had, they were wet and smelled terrible, they were just used towels that they folded and gave them to us as if they were clean, obviously I gave them back as it was unsanitary. To make matters worse, just as we were all finally having some fun in the pool, without a warning or explanation, they ushered everyone ot of the pool at 6pm, they were very rude just blowing their whistle and yelling at everyoe to get out. We came to find ot that ALL the pools at this resort close at 6pm!!! Activities - there were no shows whatsover, unlike GBP at RIviera Maya where there is a show every night. We were supposed to have Karaoke night on wednesday, but it started raining, people were still waiting around by the lobby, everyone took cover waiting for the show to start. When I went to ask for paper at the bar, I overheard one of the animators tht they were jst waiting for the rain to come again so they could cancel it all and go home. They started the show late,as people were still waiting regardless, since my kids wanted to take part of the karaoke, and due to them starting late, we missed our rservations at the Mexican restaurant. They advertised a lve band oe of the nights, it did not last more than an hour and it was jst one singer at the hotel lobby. A very disappointing experience, since, one of the hghlights when booking an all-inclsive is the wide range of shows and activities . There was none during our whole stay. Food /Service - HORRIBLE I have no words to describe how utterly appaling their service is, with very few exceptions. BUffet restaurant, again compared to GBP Riviera Maya, it was subpar, same options every day, almost no variety, food was often lukewarm and drinks were warm. We never had utensils at our tables, always had to chase after someone to get some, sometimes even ignored. No one approached us to ask if we needed drinks, to pick up our dishes when we were done. Terrible attitude. Guys giving away towels at the beach and at the pool were very unpolite, laughing and making fun of people, sending people away wothot towels, refusing to change their towels, etc. I could just go on and on about how terribly dissapointing and disrespectful their service was. Whn I was looking for a pharmacy at the resort, no oe could send us the right direction, 2 of my kids were seriosuly ill and I had to walk with them tryong to find our way to the pharmacy, workers kept js sending us different ways, the pharmacy was at the adults only section, when they saw me and my kids there, jst efore we arrived t the pharmacy, they wanted to make us leave as it was the adult only section. I had to plead with them to let me just go to the pharmacy as I needed medication for my kids. No empathy whatsoever. As much as I love the GBP brand, I would NOT return to this resort, neither would I recommend it, for the same price we could have gone elsewhere with better service. It is astonishing that such a reputable brand as GBP could have such subpar service, amenities , activities, food and drinks compared to their sister hotel In Mexico. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because their beach is beautiful ad our cleaning lady Esperanza was the nicest person we encountered dring our stay, same for our aiter at the japanese restaurant and the young boy thet served us at the lobby bar on our last day while we were waiting for our taxi. It was by the far the worst experience I have ever had, which is not even over yet as I am waiting for resoluton on the refund they owe me due to being forced to pay 2 times. Please avoid this hotel if you want a pleasant and memorable vacation.
