Best Resort and Staff
We have stayed at several hotels in the area and we always end up coming back to stay at the Luxury Akumal. It is by far our favorite hotel. The staff are lovely and the beach (Cove where the kids can snorkel) and service is what keeps us coming back year after year. This year was our 6th time at the resort. We travelled with 6 adults and 3 children. We stayed in the Swim Up Suite and it was worth every PENNY! Pros' Lovely beach with cove (break) to safely snorkel with lots of coverage and chairs. Beach bar service - several staff coming around asking for drink orders). Entertainment- evening show Origen (Tulum resort) and the day entertainment (bingo, Mexican lotteries' and foam swimming pool). Buffets are plentiful- hats off to the chefs! The A Le Carte's are fantastic (La Tortuga, Dolce Vita, Mikado Teppanaki, Don Pablo). Cons' The A Le Carte's fill up fast and given that our group was large we were unable to get into a lot of the places despite signing onto the App 10 days earlier to try and book. The rooms close to the lobby are outdated and desperately need a refresh (you need to choose between location- close to the beach with a less desirable room or further away from lobby and a gorgeous new room). If the resort were to update all the rooms this resort would be incredible. Considerations: Our family is so grateful for the staff at Akumal, year after year they continue to impress us. Anyone in the food/service industry should have to train in Mexico. For those of you travelers that expect to go to Mexico and because you paid for an "all inclusive" demand a certain thread count on your sheets and expect to have a personal butler for all things - without tipping or rewarding this type of service, stay home. You know what they say if you can't afford to tip, don't eat out! Things to Leave Tips for: - A Le Carte Dinners - The buffet chefs that cook in front of you (pasta station, omelets/eggs, steak). FYI- The big white hats they wear are for holding tips without touching money. They are slaving over a hot stove for you, show some appreciation it goes a long way. - Bar Service (we tip every time we grab drinks but even a couple tips throughout the day works). - Room service- Tip every time (again even know it's included its proper to tip) - Maids (we always leave a little tip on the desk) - If you want extra water in your room or beer (snacks) pay extra and tell them what you want - you will get it. Shout Outs: A big Thank you to Joel and Ceasar to helped arrange the most amazing private dinner for my husbands birthday at Dolce Vita (it was absolutely exceptional service) a 2.5 hour dinner with multiple courses, 5 bottles of wine, a birthday cake and an amazing atmosphere. I highly suggest anyone who has a special occasion to contact Joel or Ceasar and arrange your private dinner. A 2nd thank you to Joel who helped reserve the privilege section (loungers) in front of the swim up bar for our family. Joel and Ceasar again waited on our family all day and each day welcomed us to our chairs with a bottle or tequila or wine (our choice). The cost of reserving this section was again a well worth upgrade. To our dear friend Erik and Jose at the Buffet and the chef who personally came out our first night an welcomed our family. You guys are diamonds in the rough! Erik (my cappuccino was not the same this morning without your smiling face). To Victoria at guest services who helped with booking our A Le Carte's for our big group. Thank you !! To the concierge Ceasar- who arranged a private tour of the resort by cart for our son who was disabled (broke his leg prior to trip). Thank you! He talked about that trip for days. To Miguel and Alvaro at the front desk who helped upgrade our room to the swim up- you two were amazing to deal with and help meet our every need. Thank you. The bartenders at the Swim UP- Thank you for always taking our huge drink orders and making them just right!!! Last but not least, a big thank you to Mariah (Entertainment). As a 4th year in a row- Akumal bingo/Mexican lotteries winner I want you to know how much fun we have with you year after year. I hope you meet your "Prince" and know that every time we pour a drink from the Tequila bottle we won during our bingo game, we toast.............."I love you Mariah" !!!! Thank you for another amazing year. The Canuel Family - Canada

Cancun couple commentary
Paloma guest services is a wonderful person very helpful and attentive to all our quest requests. All staff are very helpful. Gladys server and Chef Filiberti at Dolce de Vita were so nice introducing themselves at our table. Food was very good. Resort is impeccably clean and beautiful. Linda and Don March 2025

Amazing and beautiful resort!
This hotel was beyond our expectations. Being part of several resorts together, the ease and flow in visiting other pools, beaches, bars, etc. was awesome! We stayed at Luxury and snorkelling was available right off the pier. Rooms and facilities were extremely clean, staff was friendly, food at buffet was amazing. A la cartes were several steps above and beyond! The grounds were so beautifully kept and natural and lots of wildlife around. Entertainment was best we have ever seen and lots of it. Loved loved loved it - would love to plan a trip back. Beach itself wasn’t large and pristine white sand but trade-off is that they are environmentally friendly, protecting nesting sea turtles and there were lots of birds to see in early morning. If you are looking for long stretches of empty sandy beach, you may be disappointed. Some places had sea weed and there was a low rock wall along part of the beach, separating the sand and access to water, but those areas were really rocky so probably wouldn’t swim anyways. Overall we give this a 10/10!!!

Wonderful experience
Beautiful hotel, so well kept. Amazing staff service. Food was fantastic. The hotel never seemed busy or over crowded as it is so well set out. It was like you were staying in your own little paradise in the jungle. Such a wonderful place to stay, would highly recommend staying there.
