Staff at the pool is not the nicest, The servers at the pool did not even notice us, i ordered drinks and i did not receive it, still waiting. at the buffet you don't feel any attention from the staff, it feels like you just another person that is coming to eat.

An Average Trip Overall
We went on a couple's trip recently and stayed at this resort. We are all in our early 30s. The vibe was definitely older adults. We loved the fact that it sat on a compound with all of the other Bahia resorts. You could get around pretty easily by golf carts and you had access to all of the other resorts and their amenities. The room was spacious and clean, but the pillows were uncomfortable. The resort was not too big and easily walkable. Everything felt close by. The food was nothing special and some days, it just wasn't great. The best drinks were at the lobby bar. It rained quite a bit during our stay and it felt like there wasn't much to do. The ocean was fantastic and very swimmable. We mostly sat on the beach and went swimming in the ocean. Overall, if you're looking for a cheaper vacation with a nice beach and average food, this would be a good option.

Apr 18, 2025Great Adults Only Resort on Bavaro Beach!
The Bahia Principe Ambar is a beautiful property, with lush landscaping and many amenities including a Modern Gym and Coffee Shop with Baristas. The pool is stunning and right next to the beach. The rooms are modern and very clean. The dining options are numerous, International A La Carte Restaurants and The Palmyra Buffet which offer a different theme of cuisine every night. La Brisa’s, the poolside restaurant offers an A La Carte Breakfast and Buffet Lunch. The one thing that sets this resort apart is the Professional Entertainment they offer every day of the week. Madelin and the Ambar Entertainment Team keep the fun going all day and into the nite. We have already booked our next vacation at the Ambar for April 2026. I would like to acknowledge other Ambar staff that helped make our vacation special. Front Desk Services- Josias, Rhaideer and Nairobi; Guest Experience- Issac and Efrain; Bell Services - Jean; Palmyra Buffet- Miguel, Ella, Saony, Maria, Kerlin and Patricia; Housekeeping Services - Braulio; Poolside Server- Bianca; Pool Bar Services- Carlos, Alisinio and Emmanuel; Pool Towel Services- Ramone. Great vacation for fun and relaxation
From the moment we arrived we had an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and so helpful, anything we needed we just needed to ask and we were accommodated. Special call-out to Desiree at the pool bar, she never let us go dry and made sure we stayed hydrated and Aquilino, Skinny-boy and Kedwin at Limbo, they were our pre-dinner entertainment every night and wizards making specialty cocktails. The grounds are lovely and beautifully kept and so clean. Plenty of food choices at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants were excellent! Thank you all and can’t wait to come back in the fall!!!

Extreme hot water issue.
Average stay, buffet food was very repetitive even on specialty evenings. For example on Italian night the only addition I could see was a pan of lasagna. Our corner room was spacious and very clean but had an issue with extremely hot water only coming out of the shower and requested this issue be resolved on day 2, again on day 4 and nothing was repaired nor was a room change available.
