Great vacation!
First of all, a great hotel with very clean rooms and a great service from our concierge Ysael. He always made a swift follow-up on the requests we had! Thank you for your great service.👍 The buffet Palmyra is one of the best of the Bahia Principe hotels we have been to. We want to thank Metre Pablo for his super customer service. We also received a great service in the morning and at lunch from Judith and Ela and their teams. In the evening, Patricia and Maria made sure we had everything to enjoy our dinner. The food is excellent, well presented and plates are always replenished. Thank you to the team of the buffet Palmyra! You really do great work every day.♥️ The Privilege Club at our arrival: we thank Stephania for the great preparation in advance. We received a room exactly according to our preferences . That part was excellent! On the other hand, the service at check-in was mediocre to poor. I know we arrived in the evening at the Ambar Privilege Club, but the person checking us in only gave us our wristbands, hardly any explanation at about the resort, the Wifi, or where we could get anything to eat in the late evening, and we got sent off to our room. This is not what we are used to with the Privilege Club, 😖. The Privilege club at the beach: good service, great drinks prepared, nice seating at the sea side and we were happy that they did some work on the beach. Thank you Simeon for checking on us every day and Mayra and team for the great cocktails and service! The Privilege club at departure: we had a late flight and asked to keep room later than 12:00. It took us quite some effort and numerous requests, to get a 2 hour extension. This should be easier for Privilege members … . All in all we had a great vacation and hope to be back next year !

A FANTASTIC VACATION!
We've been to many different all-inclusive resorts in various places, but this was our first adults only one - and we loved it! The resort is immaculately kept - the beach is amazing, and we found most the food very good as well. We were a group of 10 and the resort managed to always accommodate our dinner reservations every night. This was seriously one of our best vacations and we would highly recommend this resort.

It was a very relaxing time.
The property itself is beautiful and very well-maintained and clean. The pool area was also very very nice As well as the room. But if you’re going to go there for the food, please temper your expectations. I found the buffets to be just OK and the à la cart restaurants were just Soso. I cannot see why anybody would call it gourmet.

The worst hotel we have ever been to - Luxury should be removed from the hotels name!
It has been a few weeks now since we arrived home from an 11 night stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar and I am still trying to process just how awful of an experience we had. There is little (if anything) we can say that is positive about our stay, but I will try. Big shout out to the waitresses who worked the hotel lobby bar - they couldn't do enough for us and where the only staff who treated us with a modicum of friendliness whilst we were there - THE END! Everything else was just terrible - I could write a 10,000 word review and still have more to say about this hotel but I will try to keep it brief as our experience told us that complaints and addressing customer concerns is not something the hotel takes seriously. Check in - zero customer service experienced! Chucked a key at us and told the room number! No directions of where to go. Arrived at the block of rooms and found out we were on the third floor. No lifts so we were left to get our own suitcases to our room. Room - the first room we were put in had bloodstains on the bedding, holes in the wall and hair everywhere. Second room was only slighter better but still had stained towels, lose sockets hanging out of the wall and a rusted bathroom mirror. Staff - most staff were entirely disinterested in us as guests - few of them so much as greeted you but the rest were quite frankly rude!! Staff pay no mind to complaints and issues raised! We were actually refused service by one of the male staff in the buffet restaurant one day (I think because we are a gay couple but cannot say for certain!) Food - abysmal! We are vegetarians so we know that choice is always going to be limited but I have stayed in 3 star hotels with nicer food. Apparently a plate of lettuce with a tomato on top classes as a main meal in an ala carte restaurant.. Pool - constant noise all day, every day and not a relaxing environment! We spent most of our time at the beach, but on one day, the pool was cordoned off for an afternoon due to a drunken adult defecating in it!! Beach - gorgeous setting but the hotel did nothing to police vendors trying to sell stuff to guests all day long (including drugs) Drinks - watered down rubbish, all the cocktails tasted exactly the same! No beach service at all other than for a select few guests Guest behaviour - the hotel did nothing to police the horrid behaviour of some guests or enforce their own rules. The complex stank of cannabis, people smoked cigars in the pool, cocaine being snorted in communal toilets, guests allowed to walk around with portable speakers blurring music out with no consideration for others! I could seriously go on and on! How this hotel can brandish itself as a 5 star luxury resort is baffling! It is 2-3 star (at best) 18-30's hotel that would be better situated in Benidorm (not that there is anything wrong with that, but it's not what we paid for!).

Relaxing 10 days by the beach
Just got back from our first time in the Dominican. This is my review. THE BEACH is the best thing about the hotel. It’s right on the doorstep. The sand is powdery soft and the sea is warm, clear and pretty much seaweed free. The staff are up early raking any away. The waves were bigger than we expected and the red flag was up for the first 2 days. However it was yellow for the rest of the stay and the waves became enjoyable. More fun than just calm waters(if you want this you need to stay on the Caribbean Sea side of the island) We always got a bed even though lots were reserved. THE COFFEE SHOP we went here at least twice a day. We enjoyed the iced tea and caramel coffee/hot chocolates from the machines. They also have a selection of sandwiches and cakes which is useful to takeaway if going on a trip. FOOD we enjoyed the majority of our meals but particularly the restaurants at the Esmeralda hotel- Yurta Mongolian, Hindu Naan and Taino Dominican were favourites. We also enjoyed Portofino at the Ambar. ENTERTAINMENT we recommend going to the other hotels for more interesting evenings. The Grand and Esmeralda have better entertainment. We also enjoyed going to The Village too. SPA we had a lovely couples massage. My masseuse(Maria?) gave me the best massage I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot. Worth the money. RAMONE gets a special mention. He was the one member of staff we came in contact with every day for towels and he was always happy to see us and had a smile on his face every day! The only main negatives are- The bed was very hard and by the end of our stay our backs hurt quite abit. It gets abit rowdy by the pool as there’s entertainment on/loud music there most of the day. Most people seemed to enjoy that but for us we like peace and quiet(ish) to relax. We walked round the other hotels and even though they allowed children they seemed more peaceful than the adults only! *We recommend upgrading to a swim up room. We didn’t and soon wished we had. *Book a small group tour to Saona Island
