Bavaro Palace: I would not book here if I were you!!
Arriving for vacation at the so called famed Bavaro Palace all inclusive resort was from the beginning an unexpected total deviation from what I had read and heard, posted by past reviewers . We headed to an annoyingly long front desk check in line, which took us about 15-20 min. to finally be attended by someone who proceeded to ask for every piece of identification we had to able to check. Once presented with our form of payment we were finally charged a hold of almost double the amount of the actual reservation. This seemed odd considering we had prepaid our vacation. Finally checked in, our bell boy was escorting to our room and we arrive and board the elevator to our room it runs out the elevator would not close properly and we had to walk up four flights of stairs since the other elevator available was also out of service. Extremely annoyed we allowed our bell boy to bring our bags up. When entering our room the first thing that hit us was the obnoxious smell/odor of wet stale water or bad stench of humidity. I asked the bell boy and he said the air conditioning and rooms smell like that because the buildings are over 35 years old. We proceeded to get ready for our first day on the island only to find our toilet was leaking water and had a crack in the wall. I could only wonder if the stench was from this. Overall the room with an ocean view in building 2 was amazing other than the stench. We finally left the room to head for a middays meal only to find the buffet was closed for a change in shift or meals. We headed then to a place called strikers which also had a bad smell of wet mop stale water. The small selection of food was lacking in flavor and taste. Most of the food looked as though it was sitting for hours , maybe even days and was not up to par for what anyone should expect. So bread and butter with coffee was determined to be the safest choice. For most of the week it was determined that the food was exactly as it was the first day, lacking in all aspects. It was so bad that we ended up going out to eat everyday since we weren’t able to book any reservations at the so called fancier restaurants the resort offered . , due to being overbooked. I only gave the resort two stars because of the property being so nice. The pools and beaches were great and the bars kept my hunger at bay. If you plan to visit this resort just know it’s extremely large and I’d say in need of a major updating. The service and food are definitely not up to par. Book elsewhere!!

Great stay at Punta Cana
It's a wonderful resort spread across huge area in an excellent location by the sea. We liked the pool area most. The resort has large number of pools with great ambience, Caribbean vibe and lots of fun-filled activities. The resort has plenty of shopping options in the lobby area covering local handicrafts, souvenirs, duty free items. Food is good. However, having more continental options in the buffet would be good for people allergic to the sea foods.

Family Relaxation Trip
Our overall experience was nice and relaxing. The food was not the best. Best restaurant was the Hibachi.

Take the plunge.
The Palace exceeded my expectations. I was a bit worried before we got there after reading dozens of reviews. My family and I found the food to be quite good. The buffets are HUGE and there is always something new. Endless meats - from serrano ham to grilled chicken. Loved the fresh fruit. There is fresh-squeezed orange juice in the mornings. The coffee was delish. They have a pasta bar and make omelets in the morning. I avoided all restaurants except the Hibachi and that was a good call for us. The staff was friendly and attentive. We never had any problems. I did bring lots of $1s after reading the reviews and tipped when I could. The beach is spectacular. There is a sweet water park, miniature golf, loads of toys to use in the water - catamarans, kayaks, paddleboards, paddleboats, snorkel gear, etc. My family of four had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!
