Barcelo Bavaro Palace, Punta Cana, Dec 2024!

We had a fantastic 8-night stay at this wonderful hotel. We have stayed at many hotels, this one being the largest. There is no shortage of anything. I cannot give you any negative feelings because there weren't any for us. Always a great selection of food at the buffet, they even have peanut butter if you ask for it, which we did for breakfast. Rooms are kept very clean and the fridge is always stocked with beer and pop. Our favorite A la Carte was Santa Fe, the fillet mignon was delicious. Please do not listen to negative reviews about this resort, go and experience it yourself.

In general our stay was good and I would like to come there again, but….

Bartenders should use liquor measuring cup for cocktails. Sometime cocktails were almost without alcohol, sometimes too much of it. Few times we ordered few same cocktails at the same time and they had completely different taste. But the greatest disaster was water activity service. The guy, who was in charge there, pretended that he do not know how to speak English when I tried to discuss with him his strange statements. We tried to rent a “pedalo board” but were denied few days in row, because there was a red flag. All days nobody changed that flag, even when water was calm and no wind at all. We were offered to take kayaks instead. When I tried to explain that “pedalo board” was more stable than kayak, because it had two keels instead of one, the guy just pretended that he didn’t understand English and kept telling that it was windy. There was no wind at all that day. Few times we tried to rent sail boat, there were 2 types of them, with 4 seats and 6. There were 3 of us. The guy told that if we do not know how to operate it, we must take a lesson for 35-50$ depends on size of the boat. The same guy told us that boat with 4 seats was designed for 2 people only. Next days we saw a lot of people who didn’t know hot to sail and just asked staff explain in few minutes. The last straw was when we saw a group of 5 teenagers boarded to 4 seated sail boat(what we were had been told designed only for 2) and tried to operate it without any understanding about what they were doing. They even couldn’t make a boat to turn around on shallow water. And the last, but not least, we made an appointment for windsurfing lesson 3 hours in advance, whole reservation were in English. When we came, We were told that there were no English speaking instructors and it would be needed to wait for 20 minutes. We told that it was not an issue for us and we could wait. We were suggested to start with Spanish speaking instructor, and English speaking will come soon and continue with us. No one came to us and we were trying to practice with Spanish speaking guy, and had no idea what he was trying to explain us. Thus, I hope that you will take this remarks into consideration and correct the issue I mentioned above. Thanks

    Great resort but unfriendly staff

I recently stayed at Barceló Bávaro Palace, and while the resort itself is visually stunning, several aspects left me disappointed. First, the positives: the property is beautiful, with pristine beaches and well-maintained facilities. The pool areas are inviting, and the overall ambiance of the resort is luxurious. If you're just looking to relax and enjoy the scenery, this place delivers. However, the experience was marred by unfriendly staff and poor service. From check-in to dining, I felt like customer service was not a priority. The sit-down dinner restaurants were particularly disappointing. Not only was the food mediocre, but the service was slow, and staff seemed indifferent to guests' needs, which was frustrating for what’s advertised as a luxury experience. Another major drawback was the lack of information provided to visitors. It was challenging to figure out what activities or amenities were available and where to find them. There were no clear guides or helpful staff to assist, which left us feeling lost and unsure about what the resort had to offer beyond the basics. While the resort and beach are undoubtedly highlights, these issues made it hard to fully enjoy the vacation. If Barceló Bávaro Palace could improve staff training and ensure better communication with guests, it could live up to its potential. As it stands, the negatives outweighed the positives for me, leaving the experience just average.
