Feb 27, 20252nd time at Barcelo, 4th time in Ixtapa, 12th time in Mexico
We were there for 2 weeks from Feb 6 to 20. Love the location, the food was good, especially the Saturday seafood cookout that they have from 1-2, the rock lobster was a treat. A special shoutout to Enrique our server from the pool area. He took great care of us and everyone else in his area. I misplaced the name of our housekeeper but we were in room 936, she did a fantastic job. We did get up early to get the chairs we wanted around the pool but it wasn’t as difficult as other resorts we’ve stayed in. Front desk staff was always friendly and helpful, we liked the a-la- cartes but they could be a bit tricky to get into, you can only book day of, any other resort we’ve been to has let us book the allowed amount as soon as we arrived. It’s a nice perk when you’ve committed to staying for 2 weeks which is what we usually do. The service in the sitting area every evening could be better. We were there most evenings playing cards and often felt we were ignored. The entertainment is pretty darn good, both during the day and at night. This is our 4th time to Ixtapa and Barcelo is our favourite hotel by far. If you haven’t been here before it should be mentioned that This area of Mexico is a popular holiday destination for Mexicans, there are more local travellers than international travellers at most of the hotels but they only adds to the fun. We love Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo and will be returning.

Feb 23, 2025Beautiful Barcelo Ixtapa
We went for 2 weeks, Feb 6th till 20th. Had a wonderful time and had super experience. Have to say a huge big thank you to Enrique our pool server! He was friendly and very helpful. We stayed in room 938 and our room cleaning lady was a very hard worker and did super job, sorry I didn’t get her name but she was great. Hotel was great location and always clean and friendly staff. Loved all the pools you could choice from.The beach was always clean and swimable. I do have to say there was 2 items that we had some trouble with. 1. We were in the lounge sitting space by the piano we played crib every night for 2 weeks in the evening but could NOT get a drink. Not sure why but that should be fixed please. 2. For 2 weeks we tried to get into the Mexicain La Carte and couldn’t, which left us sad. That should also be fixed please. Over all yes we will and want to go back

Great vacation
This was our 4th time a this resort. What we like about Barcelo Ixtapa is the beautiful sunset, beach, pool, food, and the kind workers that serve you with a smile and remember you from the past visits and thank you for coming back! Our favorite lifeguard is Alejandro…he greets everyone by the pool. He helps you when you need assistance. Felipa, our maid, kept our room neat and tidy and left us with towel animals. The pool bar, Oscar and Carlos always had a smile. Claudio and Alex served us at the lounge bar at night and at the entertainment at night. All such great workers. The entertainment team at night put on the best performances….best shows we have seen at the resorts we have been to. One of my only complaints though is the smoking…especially on the patio at night. It’s offensive to smell that. Another thing to beware of is the crowd on the weekends. The pool gets really crowded and multiple people have their boom boxes blaring. Alongside the music that the resort is playing. We felt the food was good at the restaurants…no complaints. We mainly ate at the ala carts. We were premium…and I suggest that if you can swing it. Easy to book the restaurant and the time you like to eat. All in all great trip! Thank you!

Great location - great food - great entertainment.
Not the newest hotel on the beach but the service and quality of the food makes up for it! I also appreciated the fact that the beach has palm trees, so I did not have to sit under a cabana.

Resort was in a great location. You could walk to great restaurants and small shops. Beach and pools were good and great place to relax. Staff was friendly and helpful.
