Disappointing Stay
We stayed at this resort as a family over the 2024 Christmas holiday and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. As one of the few Caucasian families among many Spanish vacationers, we felt unwelcome at times and even encountered what seemed like racism. This made the atmosphere uncomfortable, and given our experience I wouldn’t recommend this resort for Caucasian travellers. The rooms provided to us were poorly maintained with clogged shower drains and dysfunctional air conditioning units. Despite moving rooms, these issues persisted. The à la carte restaurants were limited to three nights of our 10-night stay and were of poor quality, for example, the Japanese restaurant felt like you were eating in a broom closet (0/10 for ambiance) and I got 2 whole raviolis as my entrée dish at the Italian restaurant, though it was a slight break from the repetitive buffet. The positive was the cleanliness of the property, it was always very clean! And, with the resort’s proximity to the ocean, you can easily enjoy both pool and ocean.

Overall good service
Food was good. The night entertainment was good. Reasonable price for all inclusive. The Saturday sea food lunch was excellent. However, daily buffet was almost the same and not enough fruits.

Not a good start!
Day one, no information about the hotel was provided. We arrived late, looking for room service, no menu available, when we called room service told to call back (3 times). WiFi not working. We are premium! Day two, still no info re restaurants, and WiFi does not work.

Good to visit once.
Nice hotel, nice staff. 1. The hotel mainly(95%+++) caters to Mexicans from Mexico. Not many foreigners and those who come typically still come from within Mexico(live in Mexico/expats) 2. Entertainment is mainly in Spanish 3. Food is pretty much Mexican. It's good, but very Mexican. However, my issue was the lack of common things like avacado/guacamole. In 30+ visits to Mexico, I've never been to a hotel that didn't have ANY guacamole or avocados. Not many fruits. NEVER any bananas. The only fruits were pretty much just pineapples and melons. On some days there was none. 4. Restaurants were not very good. I'll address specifically the seafood. small portions of same food as the buffet, put on a pretty plate with worst service than buffet... Extremely overcooked fish dishes. same deserts. I can go on. It was really bad. everything. We both couldn't wait to finish to go to buffet 5. 1 buffet, same'ish food. Again, good food, but lacking changes from day to day 6. Wish they had bicycle rental options. They have a free 1-hour tour, but then that's it. How hard is it to rent or give those bicycles to those who want to explore???!!! 7. No watersports activities(free) or ability to use non-motorized equipment. 8. HOTEL ALLOWS VISITORS!! I didn't find it safe when I found out hotel sells "memberships" to anyone where people can come in and use pool/amenities for a fee. Met a lot of those who use those. not very safe nor secure. 9. limited activities neaby/or things to do. You can get a 16 pesos bus to the Marina(crocodile park) and take 100 pesos(both ways) boat ride to Ixtapa island for snorkeling. That's nice. I think hotel and tours sell the absolute same thing for $65... but you can do it all for 116 pesos. While on the island just buy a drink on any of those beaches and use their chairs/umbellas for free. 10. Was looking forward to beach volleyball when booking, but 9.9/10 players were non English speaking and it was only 1 day in 7 day period. disappointed. Again, the hotel caters pretty much to just Mexicans and you have to speak Spanish 11. Hotel doesn't really cater to young people or couples. Mainly families with kids or old people. Not much else to do. 12. VERY limited bar/evening scene. Everything is closed, very limited choices 13. No room service as most 4+ star hotels. No way of bringing buffet inside room if you don't feel well. BAD 14. You get 3 bottles of water for 24h period in your room. If you don't trust their "purified water" you are stuck... 15. Good beach if you are ok with waves and like them. Not for kids though, too dangerous(even for adults. Very warm water though. Would I return? No. It was nice to visit once.

Adrian and Victor = 10/10
Adrian and Victor at bar cascada but the family villas were absolutely phenomenal gentleman. We laughed and made jokes and they helped me learn Español. They even remembered our drinks and had them ready before we finished walking up to the bar 😂 we LOVED them! The resort was awesome with great food and amazing staff like the captain Alejandro, who was very helpful and attentive to our family. Thank you for having us Barcelo!
