Feb 27, 2025The experience overall was horrible. Would not recommend this resort.
Worst resort that we’ve ever been to housekeeping did a very poor job cleaning rooms blood on-sheet also dirt on pillowcases toilets were clean hand towels and towels were not replaced. Floor was not swept overall very poor job even though we left tips every day.

My husband and I just enjoyed 10 days at Beach. I have celiac and am always on edge that I could get sick. Barecelo was amazing, I got an allergy letter that I presented to the server at every meal. I was provided whatever I wanted that they cooled separately and brought to my table even at the buffet. The first trip that I wasn't sick at all! Definitely will book Barecelo again, the hotel was also very clean and provided lots of options for anything you wanted.

The ocean was a bit difficult to naviagte but the pools were amazing, the food offered a lot of options and the rooms were fantastic. I would recommend this resort to anyone. I loved the double decker buses that take you to the other Barcelo resorts and I love the family warm atmosphere. My daughter also had a blast.

Beautiful location
The grounds and buildings are beautiful. We were upgraded to the Maya Beach Tulum building which was luxurious. Other friends were in the Maya Caribe building and complained about their rooms being dated and dirty. We didn’t experience this in our building. The staff was all welcoming and accommodating. The buffet was fine. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant but the Italian restaurant was subpar. None of this was fine dining but we were fed and had a great time!

A Week in Paradise
We had a relaxing week in Barcelo Maya. We enjoyed many walks along the beach. The moon and stars seemed extraordinarily bright. We spent some days on the beach and some poolside. The warm temperatures were such a blessing, especially since it was negative 15° F back home. We enjoyed the tropical plants with the wide variety. Iguanas were fun to spot sunning in the grass or on trees. The nightly shows were fantastic, very professional. We loved everything about our stay....yes, Paradise!
