Great Family Trip
My family and I stayed at this resort in February and had a great vacation. The resort has a lot to offer in terms of activities and things to do. My kids are 7 and 5 so they enjoyed the beach, pool, lap pool, park, kids water park, arcade, and the highlight for them: the countless lizards and iguanas! My son and I are picky eaters and we did not go hungry here. There are lots of options and for the most part the food was really good. While the rooms were clean, they were a bit outdated, however, nothing stood out to us as being unacceptable. (no bad smells or leaks). The staff were friendly and eager to help with our needs. It's definitely worth checking out the sea turtles on the Palace side.

Front desk needs some work on better info when you arrive. highly suggest a welcome package with alllll info of restraunts, shows, pools! we didn't find the adult only pool until the 3rd day. no idea of what was appearing for shows or where the entertainment was . the bartender I added a picture of was excellent. his service was great, and very very funny. he was located alot in the adults only pool at the Maya beach resort

Please manage your expectations for this hotel.... It is not 5 stars but it is not terrible. 5 negatives are... 1) NO beach service for drinks, 2) TERRIBLE pool bar service (1 bartender the entire day), 3) the food is Boring, bland and repeated every 3 days. 4) its a mega complex so when you book Al La Carte it may be at the other sister resort so lots of walking 5) no entertainment during the day.. 5 Positives were 1) Housekeeping was always prompt and replaced everything everyday. 2) there is lots of activities in the Maya Mall connected to the resort (like bowling, laser tag and mini golf for a price) 3) there is Cenotes across the street which you can walk over too if you want an adventure. 4) the beach was beautiful if you get up early enough to get a spot (serious 5 am ppl had flash lights taking chairs) and finally 5) they have premium liquor you just need to ask for it when you order.

Our 4th time here
We love Barcelo Maya Beach , for the beach, and for their program Stay @1 play at 4, who is giving you opportunities to not get bored of the same buffet, or theater. The beach at Barcelo is very family friendly, yes some algae, and some stones, but nothing to keep you from having a nice swim, or spending time in the water. Depends on weather the water can be calm , blue or wavy. They have a sports bar, a club, even a teenager disco.Their wifi was average outdoor, but no problems in the room.
