Wonderful family time
Just returned from another wonderful visit to Barcelo Maya Caribe. We chose Caribe due to the wonderful beach "out front" and the proximity to the pools and spa. This resort does not disappoint. The room is spacious and the adjoining patio with jetted tub very comfortable for relaxing. The room was well cared for by Teresa the housekeeper. We enjoyed daily breakfast buffet at the Tropical location--we chose this location due to the wide variety of foods. Caribe buffet is closer but the selection was not as large. Only downside was the waitstaff was a bit slow with coffee and water refills. The Brasserie restaurant at the Palace is a must for dinner. Delicious food and ask to sit in Erick and Jesus's section--they will take good care of you. Be sure to order a chocolate surprise to end your meal for a real treat! The Santa Fe restaurant also has a nice menu selection and the best tenderloin I have eaten! We have not been able to get a reservation at Santa Fe for the last couple visits and I'm so glad we did this time--excellent! Our grandsons (ages 6 and 9) joined us for a few days and loved it. The beach, feeding the fish and sea turtles as well as mini golf were high on their list. They loved Alan's iced coffee creation at breakfast at Tropical as well as the soft serve ice cream machines in several locations! The staff of the resort is kind, helpful and want to make sure you enjoy your stay. We are discussing dates for our return visit next year.

Great resort on Maya Riviera!!!
This hotel resort is very spacious and well-equipped. There is always something to do, places to walk, eat, and drink, and you just don’t get bored here. Beautiful gardens, a stunning beach, opportunities for walks and entertainment, and many places to eat and drink within the All-Inclusive package. Amazing!

Overall Satisfying Vacation
Barcelo Maya Caribe was a solid 4 star resort in my opinion. The a la carte restaurants knocked it out of the park, the facilities were in good repair, clean, tidy, and the gardens were well maintained. Only serious negative from an overall resort standpoint - specific to our travelling party - was the smoking/vaping. This will definitely be the last resort we book that allows smoking/vaping anywhere on the premises. We had a smoker staying in the room next to us and it prevented us from sitting on our balcony several times during the stay. In addition, sitting at the outdoor lounge in the evening was always a disappointing experience due to people smoking or vaping around us. All outdoor evening "bar" areas allowed smoking/vaping from what we could tell. There weren't a lot of smokers but for a non-smoking party it only takes one smoker/vaper to ruin the experience for us. Buffet food could be kept a bit warmer but there is a fine line between being kept warm enough and too warm resulting in the food drying out. Having said that, the quantity and variety of food at the buffet was very good. Daytime snack options at Captain Morgan's were subpar (tortillas/salsa, etc). Lunch at the buffet was great (service and food) and at Captain Morgan's the lunch service was good and the food average. There are issues with loungers being saved and a lack of availability due to people saving the lounger but actually not using them but nothing better/worse than most other resorts in our experience. Unless, you want to join the masses in the inappropriate "saving" of loungers, it is super hard to get a lounger on the beach and moderately hard to get one around the pool. Overall, staff was hit or miss but nothing on the rude side or anything particularly horrible. Housekeeping staff was good. Mini fridge restocked daily. Poolside drink service was bad (the waitresses wandering around taking orders). Pool bar lines were bad and service slow. Daytime entertainment was available but a bit problematic to figure out how to signup or which pool it was going to be in. Nightly entertainment was average but may have been negatively impacted by the sound being too loud and distorting the actual performance. Overall, it was an average relaxing getaway with no horrrible experiences but nothing to make the vacation stand out either (other than the a la carte meals).

Wedding destination
The location of this hotel is very good! You have all the amenities near to make your trip pleasant. The food selection and amount of restaurants was great however, would have preferred to have the menus and themes of the buffet noted outside the entrance as to not make other reservations and miss out on something good. Overall, our stay was nice and fun because we had a lot of family in attendance. Furthermore, we had issues with the TV reception on the first day of arrival. We also didn’t have good WiFi in the room which was frustrating. Then, we noticed small ants on the counter of the dresser which was very disturbing and disappointing. Wasn’t comfortable in the room after that. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for bathroom essentials. Very attentive. Overall, I enjoyed the grounds, pool, beach, and restaurants on site. Also, very close to shopping area and other sister hotels and amenities.

Every year is great!
I forgot to write a review from the winter of 2024, but below is a review written by my 9 year old daughter. This resort is great for kids and families, but there are not too many kids, which is nice. The only gripe in 2024 was that there is still a lot of inconsistency with the beach towels for those on premium reservations. They seemed to have fixed this in 2025. As always, Samantha in the Barcy Club leads a great team of dedicated ladies that have many fun activities for the kids. Every year we look forward to seeing them. Gabriel and Clementino are excellent ambassadors and greeters in the Caribe lobby, and Michelle in the Caribe premium lounge takes great care of us each year. I love Mexico!😍❤️🤩 l stayed there at Barceló Maya Caribe. It was amazing! There was so much to do. One of my favorite things was swimming with dolphins 🐬!!! It was so cool. There was so much pools. There was also a swim up bar and hammocks. The hotel’s were very open and very spacious. There was also a huge pirates water park with four water slides. The colors on the water slides were violet, orange, red, and yellow. My favorite slide was the violet one and not because of the color. It’s because it’s the fastest one and it shoots you out of it! It’s so fun! There is also a kids club called Barcy’s kids club. They have a lot to do for kids. For example you can make friendship bracelets and it’s so fun!❤️🐳🐠🦩
