Not my favorite Resort
I will go over the good and bad. Bad: 1. The food in the buffets and snack bars are terrible. Literally the worst food I’ve ever had. While the restaurant food is good, Getting reservations is very difficult. Kept only getting availability for horrible times like 8:30 and 9:00 pm. And they didn’t not let you make Two reservations per day. 2. Not even close to enough chairs at the beach or pools. There is plenty of space for them to add additional chairs. But, for some reason they don’t. So you have to get up at 6:00am to go out and put your towels on the chairs to save them. 3. The layout is not cohesive. Everything is far apart. If you are someone who has a hard time getting around, This is not the place for you. 4. They have their dolphins in a tiny little pool. They need to build them a better sanctuary. It’s sad and depressing seeing the conditions they have them in. The good: 1. The beach is beautiful. The sea turtles swam by us everyday while we were snorkeling . They are very friendly. 2. The rooms are clean and well kept. 3. There are a lot of pools and they are big and clean. 5. Staff is very friendly. Overall, this resort is not one I would go back to. I have stayed at much better resorts in Mexico and this one does not measure up.

Worst Resort experience ever ! My wife went down to the Barcelo Colonial with friends. She was greeted by staff at night that refused to show her to her room , in a huge resort at night . When she did get to her room , it stank , bad , not your typical tropical smell but something rotten . Staff told her they’d relocate her in the morning so she didn’t unpack. Next day they told her after she enquired again , that there were no other rooms to move to and that she’s have to live with it for the next ten days. The air conditioner sounded like an out of tune Harley Davidson and was impossible to sleep with on . She booked a holiday that cost over $6000 and was given a motel quality room that stank. She tried to make reservations at a restaurant and was told that they had no room , her friend who booked “Premium” then went in and booked the same restaurant for 15 people ! So unless you book “Premium” you can’t access the sit down restaurants , only the buffet, also no room service included in the $6000 package ! Hope you enjoy Pepsi too because you can’t buy any Coca Cola products either. Get ready for a battle to find a sun chair at the beach as well , she actually saw fights break out over sun chairs ! You also get a ticket that you exchange for one , that’s right , one towel for the day ! Incase you’re wondering, the towel kiosk is also nowhere near the beach so I hope you enjoy walking and lots of it ! No bar service on the beach either , you have to get up and walk more and more to a bar to get a refreshment , and no Premium liquor in there $6000 package , only cheap house stuff ! And to top it all off she now has PTSD and hasn’t slept well after watching a Dolphin jump to its death in the criminally small enclosure! What a complete joke of a resort and a total ripoff, avoid !!!

Free the dolphins!
Captive Dolphins are not entertainment! To keep replacing the ones that die by just capturing more is criminal. Listen to what people want to see and free these beautiful intelligent, animals back to their family. Disgusting behaviour for a global brand
