  Great Resort, there are sea turtles!

  We stayed at the Tropical for one week in February 2025 and we had a great time! 1+ hour from the airport 4.5* resort Snorkeling, coral and sea turtles on resort Comfy beds Good food Great staff Endless drinks Beach chairs are always annoying Would recommend Rooms The rooms are in 2 different buildings that span the length of the property, You could be near the reception, or near the beach. The buildings are open in the middle allowing fresh air, noise control, and the elements to get in, but is restricted to the garden which is in the middle. We heard no slamming doors or loud screaming people. The walls in the room are a little thin, but that is expected in almost every resort. We had a beautiful garden view and found there was no noise and nice privacy. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows were great. The rooms do have a strong chlorine smell but they were clean. Beach Great beach!! Lots of shade from the trees. Lots of big waves. We played in the waves every single day. There are sections on the beach that are super rocky and water shoes would be helpful, but there are cleared sections where its pure sand and you can get in and out without looking crazy tripping on rocks. You can use any beach on any of the resorts. They have a pier a little way down where there are hundreds of fish. Grab a free snorkel from the rental (1 hour or they charge you $10 PP), grab a banana from the buffet and go feed the fish! Over at the Colonial side there is a family of sea turtles (look for the Jaguar statue on the beach). We swam with the turtles and fed them bananas. It was a dream day!! Chairs are being claimed by 6am....but if we got down to the beach by 8 there were (most days) 2 chairs somewhere at the back. There is no sleeping in if you want a chair. Same with the pool. By 8am there's nothing left. We never went a day without a chair though... Food and Drinks Buffets and a la cartes were all great. If you are a picky eater and expecting a 5* Micheline dining, go stay somewhere else. The fruit was fresh every day. I never went without. Never had a line up to wait. The staff are incredible! So attentive and so friendly. Not with their hands out either. Bravo to the staff! We only ate at Tropical but you can eat any resort. Sports bar is open 24 hours and the food is decent for a late night bar. Huge area for paid games/bowling for kids. Kids Lots of stuff for kids. Water park. Go Kart. Mini putt. Bowling. It's endless for kids. As someone without kids...i wasn't annoyed once by loud kids. Excusions We did the Catamaran/snorkeling/Island full day. It was AWFUL. We snorkeled for 20 mins, then got dropped off on an island for 5+ hours where you had to pay to use the toilet, have shade, water, food, everything. I paid to be on a boat and was on the boat for less an hour. It also takes about 3+ hours to get to Cancun AND 3 hours back for a full day excursion. NOT RECOMMENDED. Do some of the excursions close by the resort and save yourself hundreds of american dollars. TIPS Take bananas from the buffet for any water activity you have. Bring ziplock bags from home and make sandwiches for excursion days or travel days home. Bring your own snorkel gear here. It's incredible at this resort.

  Beach chair disaster in motion

  Beach chair disaster. Not enough and they are junk. They break when you look at them. It is beach chair war on the beach and pool side. You need to be on the beach or poolside before 6am to “towel one”. They do not have nearly enough for the guests and what they have is made of poor plastic. Expect to be dumped on your ass as they crack and fall apart. Besides that love the resort. We were here 2 years ago and it is a beautiful spot. Management- fix your chair problem. A 5 star resort with a 2 star chair problem

  Needs updating

  the beach and ocean water is beautiful. the pool area is great. they do not have enough lounge chairs its a battle each day. people wake up at 6 am and hoard as many as possible. the food is not great but they have a large variety.

  Excellent service and so much fun!

  Though we got off to a mildly bumpy start being moved to a different resort on the property (read the fine print if you're traveling with a large group to ensure you're reasonably close together), I was very impressed with the service and the staff at this resort. The lobbies are bright and welcoming, and the rooms are clean and well maintained if a little dated. The staff worked so hard to make our stay wonderful, and were quick to respond to any issues. I would not say this is a five-star rated resort in terms of facilities but it was definitely a five-star experience with regards to the staff and how much fun we had! The sports bar and all the activities, not to mention the expansive beach and so many pool options to choose from definitely were a highlight of our stay.
