We have been to Puerto plata a few times already. 1st time at the marien. Lovely resort. Our time here was made extra special by Manuela Reyes from housekeeping. She knew how much l loved coffee and made sure l had enough packets and water so l would be able to have a coffee in my room.

Best staff ever!!
Totally loved this resort!! I have been to the Dominican twelve times and this resort was one of the best. It's not five star but we didn't pay for a five star. Check in was quick,had a bite to eat and our room was ready.We had a quick ride in the golf cart and then to our room which was ground floor ocean view The room was very clean, fridge well stocked and TV worked as did the a.c. It was quite rainy during our stay and there were leaks in areas such as bars ,and washrooms but no real problems. The ocean was really wavy because of storms which made the workers job difficult to keep the beach clean due to garbage washing up on shore The staff in every area of this resort are outstanding! Enjoyed my omelet daily and a special hello from two wonderful ladies in the buffet named Josefina and Vicenta .They made our day start on a happy note. We totally enjoyed the daily activities with Bob Bon, Roberto,Felix, Jesus , Eveline and others whose names I forgot. Luisanny is the friendliest in the reception area. The food at the buffet is good with a different variety each day. We went to all the ala cartes and especially liked the Brazilian restaurant. Buffet style salad bar the lots of different meat brought to the table. We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant but not the Mediterranean but that's just our preference. Drinks were good and bartenders friendly and kept the drinks coming .The Magic show was fantastic.Dont miss it!! The other shows are done by a group of dancers who dance to a different theme each night. The beds were comfy.the resort was clean ,pools sparkling, food adequate so no reason to give this resort anything less than a four star. You won't find any friendly staff!! Great job by all employees and management. Would not hesitate to return perhaps not during rainy season.

Amazing staff and hotel!! Great food and super clean. The funnest Staff ever!!! The shows are great and Boom-Boom is the coolest and he is incredibly entertaining and fun. He is very professional and thoughtful. Best donkey ever!!!😁 Only complaint, the music at the activities spot repeats same music every single day. Please mix it up 🙏🍻🎉

Nice small resort but don't waste your money on the VIP package
We requested a ground floor room but were assigned one on the second floor. We had to wait a couple of hours before they reassigned one but it was worth the wait. Excellent location – block 8. Don’t waste your money on the VIP package. We bought it for the benefit of no reservations required to the a la carte restaurants and a VIP bar with premium drinks. None of the guests had to make a reservation to any of the restaurants and the pool and snack bar were far superior to the VIP bar. Our customer service rep Jamicy Familia (we called her Jammie) was awesome trying to get us all the missing VIP inclusions – no sparkling bottle of wine, no slippers, pool towel exchange, etc. There are two bartenders at the pool bar that are totally awesome – Joan and Hermes. You’ll know who they are by their big smiles and friendly conversation. The main grounds of the resort were kept very clean, but not the beach which was extremely dirty with tons of garbage laying around.

Excellent stay would return
This was the first time staying at this hotel and we really enjoyed our time here. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The rooms could be updated but overall we didn’t have an issue. The animation team works hard and always want to make sure you are having fun a special mention to ‘Bon Bon’ who always wants to make sure you are enjoying your stay and always greets you with a smile. A shout out to ‘Johan’ the bartender who always made sure we never were short of drinks!! Overall a excellent stay. Would revisit.
