Apr 02, 2025Marien Puerto Plata Resort Needs Work
Marien Puerto Plata Hotel was okay. It has it Pro’s and Con’s. The hotel needs a lot of work When it comes to the bedrooms and restaurants. You can tell that it’s an older property that’s run down which I think they’re in the process of renovating some of the buildings. Right now they’re in the process of revamping 2 buildings. The bedrooms were old, creaky doors and closets. The bathrooms were small and old. Definitely the bathtub/showers needs to be replaced. They were pretty grossed. The beds were hard. Not the most comfortable. The Pro was the room was spacious and the balcony was nice. Every day there were issues getting towels, bath mat, and face cloths. The housekeeping supervisor talked to me concerning of the problems and at that point we were getting everything that we requested. Our room attendant was really pleasant and a hard worker. We were VIP members and I find they need a lot of work for this program. It’s not consistent. They make it sound that you have priority when it comes to going to the a la carte restaurants but you don’t. The resort does not take any reservations for anyone. It’s all first come first served. They miss lead you on that you can come into the restaurant and you don’t have to wait. Not true! There’s no priority for VIP’s even though you are paying a higher price. The mini bar is weak. A few Coors Light and a bottle of sparking wine which was really sweet, which we could not drink it. They advertised that you will get a free bottle of rum but that’s only for people that upgrade when you check in. When you pre book your room you only get sparkling wine. Which is quite confusing. They should keep it consistent for the whole VIP program. Not have a different program for people upgrading when they check in and another program for pre booking the rooms. The lounge was great and the bar was nice. They were very friendly. The best a la carte restaurants were the Mediterranean and Brazilian. The staff were friendly and great which made the resort. The shows at night were entertaining. I see potential at this resort if they do some revamping of the property and the VIP program.

Mi primera bes en el hotel todos exlente muy buen servicio de los empleado me gusto mucho la picina bien dinamica ,buena bariedad de comida y vevidda me gusto mucho el bar de la picina maneury y german son bien servicial ,me gusto mucho el show dominicano bombon es un exlente presentador todo exelente

Espetacular excelente
Me encantó el hotel, muy cervisiente me me gustó mucho la avitacion muy confiable me gustó mucho el restaurante nilo ,la vida muy buena la picina muy divertida muguto mucho el show doninicano en especial Riki y bombón me encantó todos excepto el jin

Lovely Small Resort
Juan at the pool bar made our holiday fantastic. He genuinely looks like he loves his job. He made our entire vacation Fantastic!!!! The pool was clean. A little slippery when you get in at the shallow end. If you want shade, be prepared to get up at 4:30, and don't just put your towel there, stay seated, or it'll be removed. Very few shaded areas. Huge downfall. The ocean is of course magnificent. Not alot of seaweed. If you go further to the right, it becomes less. Lots of tree shade here. And plenty of sunbeds. Closest spot to get a cold drink is a 2 minute walk (The Snackbar). The buffet is very small. Not alot to choose from. We enjoyed the unlimited A La Cartes. Milos and the Brazilian restaurant were our favorites. Mexican was also good. The staff at all three restaurants were so funny! Our room was freshly painted, with a beautiful pool view, our housekeeper was adorable, super funny! She danced while she tidied. The entertainment was ok. 7 dancers for 7 days. Interpretive dance. The choreography was great. The dancers looked like they were having fun. I would suggest they bring in some new acts/groups. We did venture out to the casino. Small, handful of machines. Won a little. We did not go to the disco on the resort (in the Sports bar after the nightly entertainment). But we could hear it from our room. Be aware of the market down the beach to the right past Iberostar. A guy passed by my brothers wife's handbag with a scanner, theu are closely monitoring to see if theyve been compromised. Was within inches of her. My brother witnessed this happening and we left very quickly and reported it to the bank. Another couple purchased some items from the sellers tables outside of the buffet (Thursdays and Saturdays) Instead of being charged $70 dollars on their credit card, they were charged $700). The sellers in the beach are relentless. Even when you so No. Just be aware, and travel in groups. Would we return to this resort? Probably not. Because we like more activity, more things to do. We did Zip-lining and the Monkeyland. That was fun. But we like a larger resort. With more selection.

Highly Recommend Marien!
Highly recommended Marien! 3rd resort visit in DR and this is the best! Bartenders (especially Herman) are super friendly & attentive. Variety of tasty restaurants. Activities for old & young lead by fun staff (Bombón is a great time)! We will return and bring our family!
