Large resort with sub par staff and cleanliness. A few staff members were amazing however.
This resort is very large and was full while we were there. Cleanliness and wait staff are definitely lacking. Our swim out pool was always dirty with hair and debris in it all the time. If you get a reservation plan on still waiting up to an hour for your “time slot”. With that being said we did meet and have some AMAZING staff and would like to acknowledge them. Raquel, Yeico, and Ariela at Kaleidoscope were GREAT. Some of the best we have ever had anywhere. Jorge with the concierge service was unbelievable also and treated our family great.

Honest Review of Sunscape Coco, Punta Cana
Our recent stay at Sunscape Coco in Punta Cana had its highlights, but overall, it left much to be desired. While we knew we were booking a budget-friendly resort, there were several aspects of our experience that were frustrating and disappointing. The Good: Beautiful Grounds: The resort itself is well-maintained, with lush landscaping and a stunning beachfront location. Spacious Room: Our room comfortably accommodated our group of six, which was a plus. Fun Activities for Kids: The highlight of our trip was the parasailing and banana boat rides—the kids had a blast! Great Weather: We were lucky to have sunshine throughout our stay, making beach and pool time enjoyable. The Not-So-Good: Room Cleanliness & Check-In Delays – Despite our room being a great size for our group, it wasn’t very clean upon arrival. Additionally, it wasn’t ready when we arrived at 4 PM check-in, and we didn’t get access until 5:30 PM—which was disappointing after a long day of travel. Limited Dining Options & Long Waits – The only restaurants available were buffets, and despite checking for multiple days, I was never able to secure a reservation at any of the à la carte restaurants. The food quality was mediocre at best. Overcrowding & Lack of Lounge Chairs – If you didn’t claim a lounge chair by 6 AM, you were out of luck. This made poolside relaxation more stressful than it should have been. Bar & Drink Issues – The bar lines were consistently long, and the coffee bar had massive morning lines. At one point, the resort ran out of liquor until mid-afternoon, forcing me to drink beer instead. Additionally, the frozen drink machines were unreliable, only working half the time. Aggressive Beach Vendors – The beach experience was disrupted by persistent vendors who became rude when we declined to buy. It was difficult to relax with constant interruptions. Final Thoughts: While I understand that this was a budget-friendly resort, I expected better organization, cleanliness, and service—especially since this property is owned by Hyatt. The beautiful weather and fun excursions were the highlights, but the frustrating check-in process, overcrowding, long lines, and lack of dining options made the experience underwhelming. Would I return? No. I personally wouldn’t stay at Sunscape Coco again and wouldn’t recommend it to those expecting a true resort experience. Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
