An Oasis in the Hills of Saint Lucia
There aren’t enough positives for this beautiful gem of a resort. Nestled in the hills of Castries, the view is spectacular. The resort is stunning with its lush grounds of palms and flora. It’s impeccably kept up by its landscaping team. The resort public spaces, the pools, as well as our room was incredibly clean. And the beds are oh so comfy!!!! The food is top notch, with plenty of variety. This resort is a quiet oasis. We were able to relax and unwind here which is exactly what we were looking for. If you are looking for a party place, look elsewhere. The guests were mainly from the UK or Canada and they were all just lovely and very kind. Now onto the staff!!!!! The stafff make this place. The GM Dean is always out and about greeting the guests and making sure we are happy. Dana at the front desk is GOLDEN. She helped us on more than one occasion, and I’m truly grateful to her for all her help. Brenden, Bella, my girl Nikisha, Andrea, Vionce to name a few who served us making sure our coffee and drinks were always overflowing. Quincy who helped me with a tie wrap! Jaffrey who made sure we had a fun time with water aerobics. And finally my girl M who cleaned our room almost daily when we needed. I hope you enjoyed the lavender soap and chocolates xo I know I’ve missed some names, but I can still see your faces and appreciate all that you do to make our stay so memorable. I can’t wait for us to return.

Solid 4.5 star (but that isn't an option)
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful resort! So clean, great food and drinks and amazing staff. Good entertainment as well. This is a smaller resort that leans towards an older, mostly UK group of guests (but we knew this going in). It's a perfect location to get out and explore beautiful St. Lucia, which we did for 4 days out of our week long stay. Dean, the manager, is always present and speaking to his guests, which is probably why the staff is amazing. Highly recommend if you are not a fan of the mega resorts, like us! Book your shuttles to the beach or market and your a la carte dinners early!

Wonderful Place With Wonderful Staff
We couldn't have asked for more from our 12 nights at the Bel Jou! Virtually everything is covered in previous reviews so I'll just add some bits n bobs. Yes towels are on sun beds very early, in some cases before the sun comes up, but there always seemed to be free beds somewhere to use. Better than this though is to book the free shuttle to the beautiful beach where there are free beds and shade a plenty. We took the 9am shuttle there and the 1pm shuttle back which was perfect. At breakfast and dinner check out the "local corner" where, as the name suggests, there were a couple of local dishes on offer. Maybe not the breakfast offering so much but the dinner offerings were suberb. You can book any excursions you want to do at the hotel which is preferable than booking beforehand as you'll have an idea of what the weather will be like by this time. We found that of the 3 we booked 2 were the same price as booking independantly beforehand and 1 was actually cheaper. If your footie team is playing and you can't bear to miss it ask them to put it on in the rooftop bar - they have a firestick. There was the odd thing that could be improved upon but in no way spoiled our stay. Our room could have done with a bit of TLC, decorating and furniture were beginning to show their age and no USB ports which seem standard now in most hotels. Food was often just luke warm though the day before we left they had brand new food pots/dishes installed so this may have resolved that. Breakfast was from 7am but everything was not available at this time - the pancakes and french toast often didn't appear until after 7.30am by which time I'd finished. Finally, as most reviews have mentioned, it's the staff that make this place so special. Everyone, be they front facing, kitchen, maintenance, gardening etc always had a good morning or hello with a smile on their face. There are far too many to mention but a special thanks to Vakessa for keeping our beer and wine flowing in the evening and the lovely (despite being a Gooner) Quincy who always had time for a chat. Don't hesitate - book it.

A hidden gem
Bel Jou is located on the hillside above Castries so has amazing views, if you opt for an ocean view room as I did. There is a hotel shuttle bus to the beach and Castries which is complementary, as walking is very difficult. The room was lovely and well equipped and I liked the coffee shop where I could help myself to coffee all day. There are 2 pool areas and Jaffrey did great aqua aerobics every morning which I thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately people did put towels on sunbeds and that started earlier every day we were there. The food was all buffet style and was ok, I enjoyed the lunches at the poolside bar which was excellent. Food was also served in the roof top bar but we didn't realise as.menus were not readily available. The entertainment was varied throughout the week. For us this was a poolside chill holiday and definitely met expectations.

Lovely intimate hotel
Boutique sized all inclusive hotel, nestled above Castries with a great view. We cannot fault this hotel, smaller than we normally frequent but the staff were so accommodating. Food in both restaurants was of a high standard. Two pools. Rooms cleaned daily and immaculate. We would definitely recommend. Thanks to the whole team, also nice to see the manager visible.
