Depends on what you are looking for....but not a luxury resort
Not a 5 star - but the rooms were comfortable and clean, the food was good, the staff was really helpful. The transport to airport was just ok (50 minute ride but transport from airport to hotel took 2.5 hours due to some missing guests that never showed). Check in and check-out went very smoothly - all the staff (food services, maid service, front desk) went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. Curiously they don't show you to your room - you kind of have to figure out by a general direction pointed to you from the 2nd floor lobby. The beach is beautiful, but we were not able to go into the surf due to severe undertow for 3 of the 7 days we were there. The pools are really busy and quite noisy - and many of the crowd was quite intoxicated from early in the day onwards. Music at both pools all day. The structure of the hotel makes it that there is a lot of echo in the hallways - at 3 am not the best experience you want to wake up to.

Great service!
Angel at the party bar went above and beyond for us everyday! Edwin from silk city also was amazing!! I would go back just for the service!! These guys made our trip memorable! The food was decent and the hotel was clean. Spa was also clean and nice.

Breathless 2024
We had a great time staying at Breathless for 2 weeks at the end of October 2024. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we definitely appreciated the bar staff both around the pools and in the main area - Ambiorix and Angelo were our go to 😉

40th Birthday Celebration
The restaurants were great! Strip grill probably my least favorite. The alcohol wasn't a fan favorite. Champagne was flat unless you were at the French restaurant or front lobby. The resort was beautiful, staff nice, and again Safrito, Coquette, Culineria, and Spoons cuisine some of the most tasteful resort food.

Just not for us
We traveled with a group of 10, ranging in age from 46 to 66. My husband and I were in the XHale Club, tropical view room 4212. We were relieved not to have a pool view because of the noise levels. The room itself was comfortable and clean. However, we didn’t use the balcony much since the view wasn’t great (there was construction in the distance, and not much else to see). The mattress was on the firmer side, which I personally liked. Our Butler Joel was very good and housekeeping was fine. The mini-bar was stocked according to our requests (mainly extra beer and water). The food overall was quite good. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast, and for lunch, we alternated between the beach bar and the buffet. For dinner, we tried the specialty restaurants. While the seafood wasn’t the best—both the shrimp, scallops, and grouper were overcooked—the meat was fantastic. The ribeye at the steakhouse at Dreams Onyx was especially memorable. The Entertainment Team (ETeam) tried hard to get people involved. We did some yoga, water aerobics, etc. Only complaint would be that water aerobics was only about 15 minutes long. Evening entertainment - we saw the fire show and circus show. Fun to watch. White party was on the beach next door at Dreams Onyx on Saturday night. It was a fun dance party. Friday night is the Neon party at the party pool - we walked by but didn't stay. Daytime pool parties - the 'party pool' was a disappointment in my opinion. The music was way too loud and, at times, downright obnoxious. The lyrics were often vulgar, and there were women gyrating against poles in thongs, which just wasn’t a pleasant sight. It really didn’t appeal to us and was a major turn-off. There’s so much great music out there in the world, and we really wish they would have chosen something more enjoyable. You can find a quieter section of the pool - but then you have no music. Americana Party at the pool - what was that all about? Was it a fashion show? Or were they looking to auction off the women? Nobody knew. It was just some beautiful people strutting around without much clothing - then rubbing their bare bum on the American Flag. We didn't get the point and it turned us off. Beach was nice - we could always find seats - even for 10 of us. Water was rough while we were there and we were always under a yellow or red flag. There was a strong riptide evidently. So we did not get to enjoy the ocean. Walk to the left on the beach past Secrets and you will come to a few shops and a place to get a massage. We did not do it but were told it was a fabulous massage for less than $50. Also - if you exit the front of Breathless, turn left and walk 2 minutes you will come to a bunch of shops - great for buying the t-shirts and souvenirs. They haggle and try to get you into their store - so be prepared. Overall - the resort is a little tired in spots. We went next door to Dreams Onyx and really liked the look/feel of it much better. We enjoyed the Splash park too (music was great!), drinks flowed and not too many kids this time of year. Lazy river and water slides were fun. We had a nice time but would choose another resort next time.
