Beautiful resort - beyond our expectations
I would rate this resort a 5 and the beach a 4. The resort was above our expectations. The room was spacious , clean and modern. The grounds and pools were perfectly kept. The food was top notch at the buffet. We did not upgrade as felt the standard accommodations were perfect. We enjoyed 5 A LA Cartes (much to our surprise)and didn’t have any issues booking on the app. The Brazilian the best as well as the Asian and Dominican restaurant. Really they were all good. The nightly entertainment was average for the resort. The sports bar was a nice option and we enjoyed a game of bowling and pool and even watched a hockey game one night. The beach was clean with lots of huts for shelter. We got up early to claim our sun chairs. The water has constant waves and I would say not great for small children. However there is a beautiful kids pool and play area that I think they would enjoy that has a slide and water fall. This is not a resort for party goers and there is no nightclub. There was a beautiful rooftop bar with amazing ocean view. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were great too. I would recommend and plan to return someday.

misrepresentation of hotel costs but excellent service once we our room.
It's difficult to rate my experience. The hotel staff in the restaurants and the activities crew (thank you Lorena!!!!!) were all great! Unfortunately, the experience began very negatively when we checked in and were told that the reservation I made via united hotels was for myself and an infant and that I needed to pay an extra 50% to the hotel so that we could have a room. I checked the reservation and it was for an adult and a child (not an infant) and the price was the same when I checked for the cost of two adults vs one adult and one child. I was there to celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday (information that was also included on my reservation) so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it in front of my daughter. This was probably a communication error between the hotel and united booking agents but this should NOT have been an error that I had to pay for. I have reached out to united hotels who reached out to the hotel directly and my request for a refund was denied. The food was a 3, the service was a 5 but my overall experience will have to be a 2 because having to pay out of pocket the minute we got there was stressful and put a bit of a cloud over my whole experience. Thankfully, my daughter seemed to have a decent time but I highly doubt I will be visiting DR again and definitely not this particular resort.

Excellent service
Very nice and relaxing weeks in a beautiful place ☀️🙏🏻 lots of things to do for all ages and different opinions in restaurants but we found eating in the buffet or beach bar was the nicest. Best service in the beach house bar by Adelina and A De Paz, thanks so much for your excellent service service🤩🙏🏻

Spring breaker review
This resort is perfect for families but wouldn’t recommend for spring breakers. Food was perfect, the workers were all nice, and the resort was beautiful. And I must mention that Joel Santana and Eduard are the best bartender at the Kanalla bar!! Definitely recommend this resort.

Surprisingly impressed! 10/10
Having visited several other hotels in the Dominican over the past 10 years including Joia Bavaro, Secrets Cap Cana last year and Hilton La Romana the 3 years previous my expectations for this hotel were fairly low - this mainly due to location, and the fact the price was considerably cheaper than the three mentioned hotels. Having now returned from this trip what I can tell you is this hotel is fantastic, it is a perfect blend of space/nature/peace/entertainment and cuisine. We upgraded to the platinum package which we felt represented outstanding value - a huge thank you to Oliver in concierge/guest relations who organised this for us and helped us out whenever we needed whilst we were in resort - 5 star employee and a credit to the hotel. We were allocated a room in block B overlooking the middle pool - the room was beautiful, clean and spacious. There are so many places to walk/explore in the hotel and also the miles of coastline that you never feel enclosed - we saw a wonderful variety of nature at the hotel too who were clearly well looked after. With regards to food having platinum meant we were able to dine a la carte for all meals - this was amazing...the location of the platinum club on the beach is delightful as is the food there and the waiters who never stop smiling and cannot do enough to help - big thank you to Gaibel, Andres, Cepin and Agustin. In the evenings we tried the brazilian, la Cava, Tex-Mex, and Asian - 2 standouts were La Cava and the Brazillian. We did do lunch one of the days we were there in the buffet and thought it was great - lots of salad and freshly cooked meats. If I had one small area for improvement it would be the gym needs making bigger and needs to open earlier - 8am is, in our experience from previous hotels, late. In addition the coffee shop could open earlier than 9am - being from the UK we were awake 4/5am most days... All in all a wonderful holiday - so wonderful we are going back next year!
