Rocky Start- Turned Amazing
Our trip started off pretty rocky with the power outages (hotel was fixed 80% by the time we got there) there was also a MASSIVE line at every single FDA.. Understably - this isn’t their fault. After waiting, we were informed that our room was not ready, also no biggie not their fault. They quickly accommodated us to a downgraded room, when we had originally booked an ocean view. (given the circumstances, that was fine- we were promised a higher floor room earlier, which we did receive.) However, before we made it to the final room, after dragging all our stuff back down (4 of us), and back up to the 9th floor, allllll the way down the hallway. We walked in on a couple in their room…. We immediately closed the door and went back downstairs. The FDA Meha was very apologetic and gave us a king room with a pullout bed. That’s fine, it’ll do. They assured us another room the next day, but we did not feel like moving ALL our stuff again. We went back downstairs to grab our complimentary waters as diamond members from the front desk, again Meha was very helpful and had given us a generous credit to our room, which we used for valet and the bar and two of the restaurants, both lola’s, and the rustic were very good and portioned fairly reasonable. Drinks were poured up nice and strong, all staff was friendly, and the lady running towels that evening was so sweet!! Overall, after the rocky start. The staff made up for it, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful hotel and explore old san juan just a short 5-10 mins away. I understand the power outages caused some trouble, so I am not 100% blaming them what so ever, as I have also worked in a hotel and can understand the issues that may arise. I did not get everybody’s name, but Meha and the rest of the staff were amazing and made up for everything !! Love Hilton for this reason!

Update to previous review...it gets better
This review is a follow up to a previous review that I submitted. I complained that the check in wait time was too long. San Juan is a cruise port so the hotel should list their check in times online. I had to call to find out the time we could check in. On the phone they told me the earliest we could check in was 2pm. So we dropped off our bags and did a city tour. We returned a little before 2 and they told me not to expect a room until 4pm. They told me the wait was because they had a lot of rooms to clean. When we finally did get into our room it was not clean! Upon entering it was obvious that no one had vacuumed the room. Crumbs and trash on the floor. There was hair in the shower!!! On the sliding glass door to the balcony was a smeared, greasy hand print that included some lit bits with it! The chairs had crumbs on them. It was gross. I spent the first hour cleaning counter tops and table tops. Within an hour of being there they sent me a text asking how everything was and I told them that the room was not clean! To their credit they came to the room to see the problem and asked to finish cleaning the room. We were exhausted and refused the cleaning. The location of this hotel is fabulous but the price is not equal to the value. The rooms are dated and need updating. The grounds were very nice but no one picked up trash. There were broken hammocks just hanging from trees. We paid a resort fee but I have no idea what it was for. Front counter staff seemed annoyed. Music in the waiting area of the hotel is cranked like a bar. Will not use this location again.

Disappointing Decline at an Old Favorite
I've visited the Caribe Hilton five times over the past decade, and I’ve always considered it one of my go-to resorts in Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, this most recent stay was by far the worst experience I've had, and it’s left me questioning whether I’ll ever return. The resort has clearly seen better days. The pool and beach area are rundown and neglected. Hammocks were broken, the pier was closed off, the sunbathing platform has been torn down completely, and the far end of the beach was littered with branches and trash. The beach showers didn’t even work – something you wouldn’t expect at a resort of this reputation and price point. What really disappointed me was the loss of amenities that used to make this place feel like a true resort. In past visits, kayaks and floats were provided free of charge, adding to the beach experience. Now, they’re charging $25 just to use a simple float – which just feels greedy, especially given the state of the property. I stayed in a room on the Wave Wing. It was okay, but for the price and the Hilton name, it really didn’t measure up. The room felt standard at best, and certainly not worth what we paid. Service was friendly, but nothing to write home about. The biggest issue was the wait times – food and drinks regularly took over an hour, sometimes up to 90 minutes. It’s hard to relax when you're constantly waiting for the basics. All in all, it’s sad to see how much this hotel has declined. What was once a vibrant, well-kept resort now feels tired and poorly managed. After this experience, I doubt we’ll be returning.

Visit for Spring Break
Hotel is lovely. Staff is friendly. Beach area is great. Highly recommend staying here in paradise. The rooms have balconies. It’s nice to be able to see the ocean and surrounding area from the convenience of the room. The food service is good.
