Great, stylish, boutique, historic, courtyard hotel

This hotel was great to stay for a week. I found the hotel a comfortable oasis and great de-stress from the rather lively Cartegena. The ambience and decoration are very stylish throughout, characterful and mildly eccentric on occasion but that is surely the whole point of staying in a beautiful historic building, no complaint there! Point of interest is that there is no dedicated restaurant or breakfast area, instead the hotel has an arrangement with adjacent cafe/restaurant Epocha, with direct entrance for guests from the hotel. That was a good surprise because I had already identified Epocha as the best cafe/diner in Cartegena! Epocha equally stylish as the hotel, great food, and hotel guests definitely get special treatment and great service. The hotel representatives were great throughout, professional to the end, and nothing was too much to ask. Unfortunately I cannot remember names (sorry) but literally everyone was great, the (two?) guys who led the front desk were great guys. I hope to return sometime.

    Interesting Stay

I stayed 5 days in boutique hotel as a solo travelere, centrally located in the Walled- Centro. Its a 10-15minute walk to Gestamani. All shops and vendors are right outside of the door. The pictures are true, beware- the rooms are equipped with Goose down feather comforters on the beds which makes it feel like a sauna. They try but the hotel is open roof, so the hotel & rooms stay hot & humid, which can't be controlled regardless how many conveniences they offer. They have free breakfast upstairs in the Cafe. I would recommend staying in the area but not at a boutique due to varying temps of the rooms.

Honeymoon Retreat in the Walled City

My wife and I stayed here for the last 4 days of our honeymoon. We had a wonderful experience. The hotel is quaint and provided the intimate feel that we were looking for after staying in other larger hotels earlier in our trip. Our accommodations were quiet yet right in the middle of anything we wanted to do in the Walled City. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The entire hotel was immaculately clean. The location also made us feel very safe. The pool was a perfect escape from the mid day heat. The bed was a comfortable ending to great days exploring the city. The bathroom was elegant with high ceilings and a large mirror. The shower was spacious but lacked water pressure due to the head being located so high. However, this did not negatively impact our stay. The only improvement to the hotel I would offer would be to develop the rooftop observation deck to become a more welcoming space. We ventured up there to take a look at the city and found a lovely space that with a little work could be a great draw to see the ancient architecture of the Walled City. It has been a week since our trip and I still catch myself dreaming about our time at the hotel. Wonderful place to stay.

Outstanding hotel in the middle of it all

As a Lifetime Marriott Platinum member I usually try to stay at Marriott properties when I travel. Last time we came to Cartagena we stayed at the only Marriott property in town, the Ermita Cartagena, is a great property but a bit far from it all. This time We decided to stay within the walled city of Cartagena and chose the Casa del Arzobispado. Its a great property, with even better staff. The rooms are spacious with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. The installations are kept spotless and i really appreciated the attention to detail on keeping with the colonial style. We ate breakfast the restaurant every day , and it was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. The only reason I did not give the property a 5 start rating has nothing to do with the hotel, nor the staff but rather how rules are applied. They had a group of influencers show up at 7am on a Sunday morning at the restaurant's outdoor terrace which is right next to our room, very loud and smoking on what I thought was a non smoking place (Columbia law dictates that any public space, open or enclosed, where Customer Service is offered is deemed non smoking). I understand that Cartagena is a trendy place and, like I said, no fault to the staff on this one, but made for a very uncomfortable morning. Aside form this, Casa del Arzobispado will be my go to place next time in Cartagena.
