Inconsiderate noise pollution at the expense of neighbouring properties
I’m rating the experience of the three couples who had the bad fortune to be staying next door to this hotel on 22 October when Casa Del Mar apparently lost power and decided to run its deafening generator well into the night, thus keeping their own customers in quiet, air-conditioned comfort while noise-polluting the air of everyone around them. Generators have to vent somewhere, as we all understand. They don’t have to vent in the direction of paying guests at a peaceful adjacent property. We went over to ask what the problem was and the response from the man at reception was a shrug. Thanks for a sleepless night, Casa Del Mar!

Had good time, would and will return
Pretty good. Went with dive shop group. Probably could have given it 4, but i am the “Russian Judge” . Was required to participate in the meal plan because i was with a group. Reason given was a meal planner could share his food with a non meal planner. On dive days i had a pretty good breakfast that i kinda wolfed down because i had to go diving. Ate iight. Got American breakfast mostly but on last day tried something in Spanish and it was verrry good! On couple of non diving days went to Ernesto’s for wonderful eggs Benedict. Got a plate of fries to tied me over until dinner which i usually took a cab to restaurant in town. Hint, 3 superb choices’; Mingo’s for steak; Lacocoy, (Mediterranean, redfish wonderful) and guido’s. Chilango’s taqueria also good. Since i only have 1, maybe 2 beers after dive, ehhh. Kinda felt ..not money’s worth. But eating in town my choice. Place across street to right very good. Will go alone and not get meal plan. Cool to sit by pool and watch cruise ships come and go and great view for people watching. Front desk clerks friendly and helpful. Dive operation very good. Plenty of room on boat to gear up. Beware of taxi scam, maybe. Twice. They claimed not to have change. 10 dollar fare, gave a 20 and asked for a fiver back for a 5 dollar tip, which i thought generous. “Sorry Senor, no change” So i had to give entire 20. What retailer does not have change? So bring exact change. They still use old style keys and needed to keep a key around neck for the safe . Some newer rooms had electric PIN safes. Room nice and roomy , AC good, No ice maker but they kept an ice chest full of ice in hall. I paid one price to dive shop for trip with dives. Did not itemize or ponder the price , but it did NOT seem too pricey. Would and will return.

A Real Hidden Gem
We love staying here every year. Low key atmosphere, mostly adults, not many kids. The people are very friendly and see the same workers every time. The food and service at the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Other dive shops will pick you up at this resort on their pier which is so nice and convenient!

No Service after hours
The hotel claims to have a 24 hour front desk. But after hours which I believe start about 10pm. They stop answering the house phone and provide no service, I got back to my room a little after midnight and found no bath towels. I tried to call the front desk and of course they did not answer. I went down to ask for some towels and was told I was SOL. I asked them to call the manager and was basically told to F myself. So no I can not recommend the hotel. The dive center was excellent and so was the restaurant portion. The hotel will be lucky if I ever set foot in it again. Ed King Benton City WA.

Average dive resort for budget travelers
The is a dive lodge, not fancy but works. We had the cabana which was great. It has separate space, 2 bathrooms, and a small kitchen. No plugs/stoppers worked in the sinks or bathtub and maintenance said they could not fix them. The food and the tools warm pool were their weak points. The food was edible but never tasty, our group often said “well it’s not terrible” when asked. At the breakfast buffet, the dried out bland chilaquiles were the worst and showed up every day, lunch was fine especially after a morning of diving. The menu got tiresome by the end of the week and despite paying for all inclusive we ate dinner elsewhere several times. The diving started out chaotic for our group of 40 but they got their act together and we had some wonderful dives. The rooms are clean and housekeeping was great.
