    Amazing Five Star Service

We just got home from six amazing days at your beautiful resort. Our stay at Casa Velas was excellent. It was the perfect place to relax, but also so much fun! Our breakfast and evening meals at Emiliano were truly 5 star. We utilized Tau Beach Club every single day and loved the personal service. We also had dinner at Tau two evenings and it was terrific with beautiful views! We have been to all three Velas resorts in the area now and love all of them. This trip was a gift to our son to celebrate his upcoming college graduation. His wish for a graduation gift was to go back to a Velas resort with us, so we decided on CV for adults only. We loved ending our beach days with room service champagne and our evenings relaxing on the patios visiting with the other guests. All three of us would like to thank Casa Velas for another beautiful vacation. We will be back! Every single employee provided exemplary service all week!

Relaxing Golf Getaway and Very Friendly Staff

Casa Velas is a very laid back, sweet resort. The restaurant and garden are certainly the highlights. Our waiter Rodolfo was very thoughtful and catered to our needs perfectly (vegetarian and wanted some spice and flavor, not standard resort boilerplate). The chef Ernesto put together a special surprise dinner just for us, coming out and introducing each dish. It was delicious, fun, and very creative. Rodolfo made his family recipe spicy salsa perique which was delicious and went great with most dishes. Golf at Marina Vallarta on a Tuesday was mellow, course wasn’t too challenging but offered plenty of room to have a good time without other groups pushing speed of play. Room and facilities were clean and well decorated/landscaped. The all inclusive is truly all inclusive, including a well stocked fridge replenished daily. While not on the beach, Tao Beach club is a short complementary shuttle or walk away. Antonio gave excellent cabana-side service making sure we always were a few minutes away from food and drinks.

Excellent 4-star, not 5-star. Calm and beautiful property.

We had a wonderful week at Casa Velas. We spent a week here between New Year’s Eve and the first fee days of January. It is a superb 4 star hotel — not 5 star, which luxury travelers who prefer adults only boutique hotels should keep in mind. This manifests itself in little touches like the restaurant serving you packets of Heinz fake maple syrup with your French toast, missing items when your minibar and coffee bar are resupplied, and things like the housekeeping staff not replenishing our hand or wash soap for the entire week. Little details like that are missing. Another issue here is the shuttle bus. Contrary to other reviews, it is not fast and omnipresent. You’ll be waiting a good 10 - 20 minutes to get back and forth to the beach club. It also takes 5 - 10 mins back and forth. It’s fine, you just have to be chill about it. If they had 2 with one always stationed in each place, there’d never be a wait. The shuttle situation also causes some degree of stress about securing a desirable beach chair. People line up and barrel into the first shuttle - the system almost assures selfish and rude behavior between guests (everyone always boards from the front to the back). The last issue I’ll highlight is breakfast service. We had some days when it took over a half hour between ordering our meal and receiving it. It often also took a good 15 minutes before we were able to order. I will note that some of these issues perhaps are tied to us having been here during the height of the high season (new years). It got less crowded towards the end and things moved faster and we had less issues with chairs at the beach and shuttle competition The food is generally excellent. The menu gets boring though. Having dinner at the beach club is much better than at the resort. The sunset view is spectacular and the food is very good - but not varied enough to keep coming back. The theme night menu at the Emiliano is a joke. We did Spanish night - the “tapas” were three tiny amuse-bouche bites, and the only dinner item was subpar paella. Skip it and go to the beach. Going to town is a must. After spending the first 4 nights here, we spent the last 3 going to town. The concierge team did a wonderful job recommending restaurants and even got us a hard to get table at Iguana on a Friday night. We loved all our nights out but Iguana is a really special fine dining experience not to be missed. The restaurant is in a hotel that used to be Elizabeth Taylor’s house. It is truly decadent. This was our first vacation to Puerto Vallarta and we really loved it. It is a wonderful vibrant town, with tons of people out having a great time, and is eminently safe. The beach is spectacular and the view from Casa Velas and the “hotel zone” means you get a special backdrop of mountains that you don’t get from the town. While I listed some of the issues with the hotel, they are meant to help the hotel out if it cares to improve in these areas, and to help out fellow travelers, as this is the highest rated hotel in PV and one of the only adults only ones. If you are used to 5 star, just know it’s a little below what you’d expect from a 5 star. All in all though, a solid choice and it was one of our better Mexico + Caribbean style beach vacations. The staff are mostly all great but special thanks to Erick who took care of us at the beach - he’s a lovely young man. And Ricardo and Denise at the concierge desk were both very responsive, helpful, and kind.

Beautiful Boutique Resort but improved service and hospitality is required.

We have visited Casa Velas for several years and honestly have to say service is not as good as it once was compared to our first experience. The little things that Casa Velas provided that made your visit extra special and desiring to return lacked this time. When you arrive the welcome of a cool towel, cold drink, and sample massage while checking in was partially offered (no massage this time). Having a complementary bottle of Casa Velas tequila and chocolates in the room to greet your arrival was not there. Luggage took considerable time to get to our room so that we could unpack and begin relaxing. If you don’t claim a chair poolside early morning, good luck getting a chair in the afternoon. Pool attendants and management were not helpful getting extra chairs for guests as they came to the pool. We witnessed this several times and very awkward for guests walking around the pool looking for a chair to relax. We had to move individual chairs across the pool area to find shade. Service at the restaurant, Emiliano’s was not as attentive as it once was, orders were slow and inaccurate. It appears most of the good service moved over to the beach club that now sells day passes for those not staying at Casa Velas. We miss the bed pillow menu that was once offered as well as the larger menu selection at Emilianos restaurant. The resort appears to be understaffed. Overall disappointed in our visit this time and service needs to improve for us to consider returning again.
