Would recommend ISO as good value
I would definitely recommend staying at ISO. This is a good location on the island. It is centrally located relative to the highway system. They have friendly staff, great amenities, it is on the beach, free parking, free breakfast, free yoga class, and free bike rentals.

Chillin in Kapa'a
Its not the fanciest resort in Kapa'a but it was comfortable and reasonable value. The proximity to the ocean is nice but as its a shallow reef, its not a great swimming beach, there are better spots within walking distance, but the best beaches for swimming or snorkelling are a bit of a drive. The tourism guides for Kauai are a good source of local info. The really clear night skies stargazing was amazing

Great location, nice views, but basic.
Don't confuse The ISO with a resort. While it has a nice pool, and is a beach-front property, that's about it. The grounds are small, but landscaped nicely. The rooms are clean, but dated. Water pressure is low but adequate. Room cleaning service is by request 24 hours in advance. A luggage stand / rack would have been nice. I had to lay my luggage either on the floor or across 2 chairs. There are no elevators and it's a 3-story property. If you can't climb stairs, be sure to request the 1st floor. They provide a water bottle and water from the office. They also offer bikes for free and yoga in the morning on the common area near the beach. All nice touches. Their free breakfast is just packaged items and not very extensive. It's a to go kind of thing. It ends by 9 which I think is too early. 10 am is more appropriate for this sort of thing. I don't want to have to get up early while on vacation just to take advantage of the free breakfast. It's almost as if they are offering it so they say they have it, but as cheaply as possible. They can do better. If you're on a budget and are not looking for resort type amenities, this is a decent choice.

Family Wedding Vacation
We booked the beach house at ISO on Kaua’i in Kapa’a town and it’s beach front. The outside doesn’t look like much and don’t let that fool you. The beach house room is spacious and everything you need for a family to stay in comfort. Plus you wake up to a beautiful sunrise with the sound of the ocean 24-7. We slept peacefully. Added bonus grab and go breakfast snacks, Bullshed restaurant downstairs. It’s convenient. We loved it!!! Staff was friendly, met the GM Ala on property and very kind and helpful. Best part was staying in beach house relaxing and not having to go any where. Watched local fisherman’s and kids fishing. It was amazing and very low key.i liked the simple life style of the island at ISO. Thank you!!

Great Location, Rest all are ordinary
The ISO castle at Kauai, If I hear this name for my next Costco Travel, I will run away. We wanted to have a memorable 30th wedding anniversary vacation trip with family with adult children. When we arrived we were disappointed with the look of the place, a completely rundown place near the waters (note not beach). We did not get adjacent rooms nor in same floor rooms. We had to negotiate to get the rooms allocated in the same floor if not adjacent rooms. No elevator for higher level floors. Breakfast had Cereal, Chips packets, Muffins and Cut pine apples. Supplies were not fresh as it should be. Pathetic breakfast options and hence we opted going to Starbucks near by. Most of the travelers were Costco Travel customers or Budget Travelers. I will NEVER EVER stay in this rundown place. If you are looking for a memorable vacation with some great experience to cherish, this is NOT the place.
