Nice for what we looking for
We are couple of school teachers in our late 50s who like to sit on the beach and read. The review is from that perspective Things we liked The facility is spread out over 7 with buildings all ocean side( tallest 4 stories) The walks to the ocean are short and direct. We were always able to find a place to sit. The food is okay, the buffet was college cafeteria like always well stocked. ( does anyone go to an all-inclusive for the food ?) We thought the service to be good most people we dealt with were helpful and happy. With some small exceptions, for example, a few mornings we weren't offered coffee with breakfast. We stayed in building 7 and while not new, it was certainly well maintained and clean. The nightly entertainment was pleasant local music. Some points to consider: that the pools are small and shallow. The beaches, while long are not very deep and filled with seaweed the swimming area never get more than waist deep. The " island " is small shaded chairs get scooped up early The hotel is right and I mean right on the main road YOU will hear traffic noise. There wasn't a lot of loud music/ activity coming from the pool area. Something we liked very much. We paid for the" adults only privileged " status..while nice is something we wouldn't do again. In sum this is our 4th trip to Jamaica and this hotel fits what we were looking for the best. A relatively quiet place with decent food/service that we can plant ourselves on the beach, read our books. We certainly would consider stay here again

Great vacation with fantastic Entertainment staff
My family and i visited the Catalonia Resort, we had a great time. The food was ok, but the Animation team was great. Big shout out to Lashana, Pauline, Sasha, Sharion, Neisha and Terry ( gym instructor). We hope to visit again. We would recommend others to the resort so they can see caralonia for what it is and not base on reviews online.

Great resort!
We just got back from a wonderful week at this resort with my husband, kids and some friends. I read a lot of reviews before I left and started worrying if we had made the right decision, but it is beautiful, the staff are amazing and accommodating, the food is plentiful, and we had a really great time. The swim out island is a nice touch! I can attest that the other guests were enjoying themselves too, and we made some fun new friends along the way. A couple things to point out to manage your expectations...it is no longer a Holiday Inn, so if you plan to go and compare the two, you will inevitably be disappointed, because they're just not the same hotel chain. Also, it is NOT 5* star resort, and if you go expecting that, again, you will probably be disappointed. It's an affordable resort that we thoroughly enjoyed, and we would definitely go back. Special shout out to the entertainment team who were great at getting everyone involved, and specifically Tavin and Shanjay at the pool who kept our kids busy for hours letting our girls chase them around. They were the best!

not happy. group of 6 .not returning
room was ok, except air conditoner sounded like plane taking off, so could not run all night. patio door stuck so could'nt open it. i ended up fixing it. The staff in buffet were rude and always no cups for coffee and if you were luck to finally get one then you had to ask 3 staff to get the coffee which took atlest 25 min, then they did'nt bring the creamer. just very poor set up. our friends reservation was lost, good thing i had copy of the conformation our they would have been left hi and dry. very poorl run

We were not sure what to expect, but the resort exceeded our expectations with a great room, terrific facilities, food and a superb beach. It was a very relaxing week with fun in the sun. Loved the swim up bar at the adult pool. Incredible service. Loved the little island.
