  Don't waste your money on Privilege status

  We arrived on January 5th, 2025. Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot. At check-in, the front desk associate barely acknowledged us, spending most of the time on the phone speaking in another language, which made us feel anything but welcome. We had paid for an upgraded room, only to find it was the same as a standard one. When I inquired about paying for an additional upgrade, I was rudely told the resort was overbooked and to check back in a few days. Privilege rooms are in designated buildings closer to the beach, but a distance from the most of the main amenities. When I questioned what privilege status got me, I was told that I would receive a discount at the spa, a bottle of rum in my room, and access to upgraded alcohol, (which was never offered to me). Do not pay the extra money to upgrade. It is totally not worth it. The food was average, but the house wine was surprisingly quite decent. However, there was no dedicated coffee shop, which was inconvenient—we had to go into the buffet just to get a coffee to go. One of the most frustrating parts of our stay was trying to get orange juice for my medication. Despite multiple requests to the front desk, I was completely ignored. Thankfully, Concierge Natacha was incredibly helpful and ensured I got what I needed. On a positive side, the resort itself was immaculately clean, I felt the housekeeping staff did an excellent job. We had great times at the pool, many thanks to Ashly at the Margarita Bar for doing such a great job. The evening entertainment was low key, but we quite enjoyed it. All of the servers at the Piano Bar were friendly and efficient. The beach had a designated area for privilege guests, but there were always plenty of chairs available. Seaweed is an issue, which is typical for a Punta Cana beach, but one day in the middle of the afternoon, they cleaned it up using large equipment. We moved to a safer spot, as they were running a tractor, trailer and pay loader around people walking, and lying in beach chairs. Insane! We will not return to this resort. We were extremely disappointed in our value for the money, and the lack of concern given to us about our polite concerns. Having said this, there were many who were return guests, and if you want a clean, mid standard resort, and have few expectations, then this place will serve you well.

  The Alegria Spa is wonderful!

  The spa is wonderful. Very kind and talented ladies! Joanny did a wonderful job. I got an anti-aging facial and it was lovely. The gym is also in the spa. Fruit tea is always available as well as nuts, water, and fruit. Tea is served hot or cold. Very clean and beautiful place:)

  Catalonia Royal Bavaro- Alegria Spa

  My husband and I had a 50 couples massage- Caribe Memories with Karina and Veronica. We both enjoyed the experience very much. The massage therapists made us feel comfortable and very relaxed. It is something we would definitely recommend and do again!

  Excellent option for a relaxed vacation

  Pros: - Clean and calm - The staff (at least most of them) are really kind and helpful, specially Leonel the bar man who makes the best “coco locos”, and Aneury in the waiter in the Tao Cat restaurant. - The rooms meet the expectations. - Excellent job from the cleaning staff - the swimming pools are clean and near to the bars Cons: - The pools are a little smaller than I expected, specially the “infinity pool” ( it does not really have a view to the ocean, so I don’t think it should be called “infinity pool” ) - The beach is not the best, it contains a lot of seaweed, that makes it to not have that cool turquoise color of the Caribbean. - DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT book a trip with the company at the desk that is inside the lobby, they’re called BD Experience, I understand that they’re not part of the hotel but I believe the hotel should take a look to what kind of “tour company” they’re allowing to operate in their lobby. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147293-d21085311-Reviews-BD_Experience_Punta_Cana-Punta_Cana_La_Altagracia_Province_Dominican_Republic.html

  Scam warning in the excursion desk (BD experience)

  It hurts to give a bad review but the experience here was diminished by the BD experience desk that is inside the hotel’s lobby, please don’t buy anything from there, we where scammed by them, we bought a VIP experience to the Saona Island, and we quickly found out the truth. A lot of what was promised was a lie. The size of the group, the food and drinks offered, the schedule and the more private and intimate beach we where supposed to go, all a lie and the price we paid for the better experience was outrageous because we ended up getting just a regular trip that should cost us half the price or even less. Please please do not do bussines in there.
