  A Great Week at Coco La Palm

  Our second trip to Negril and first time staying at Coco La Palm was a great experience. The one disappointment was the fact that I booked through Air Canada Vacations on a flight and hotel package and despite requesting a room with a balcony or outside space both through the hotel and Air Canada Vacations, we did not get one. I do understand it's better to book directly with the hotel. That being said, our room was large, quiet, with a comfortable king sized bed, extra pillows upon request, lots of hot water in the shower and was cleaned daily. The wifi worked in the room and also throughout the grounds, at the beach, pool etc. The larger pool had lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas and despite the resort being full, was never crowded. The jacuzzi was nice too. The location on 7 mile beach is perfect. The white sand and calm turquoise water were the reason we returned to Negril. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach, however other guests would stake out the chairs with their towels as in the AIs which I thought was unfair but that's seems to be the way. We always managed to find a bit of shade. Beach towels were provided and you could exchange for fresh dry ones anytime. We had an unfortunate experience the first night in the restaurant when a server tried to scam us. I think this was a one off as the rest of the staff seemed honest and hard working. We had the continental breakfast most mornings, which included fresh fruit or juice, lovely warm banana bread and other pastries. A couple mornings we ordered a bigger breakfast and they subtracted $5 off the bill for the value of the included continental breakfast. We walked to the Hi Lo for some drinks and visited several nearby restaurants including Best in the West (great!) Firefly, Colettes, Charella Inn, Miss Lily's, Sonias and a few others. We walked to Travellers and took a taxi back. Lots of great restaurants to try out. We did notice prices were high, and mostly in American funds, so with our Canadian exchange rate so low it was an expensive week. But worth it for that fabulous beach. There is a reason people return to Coco La Palm year after year.

  Best In The West

  Best In The West.... Both a boutique hotel and a restaurant by the same name across the street, how appropriate. This is a large small property with just the right feel without the feeling of being overwhelmed. From the front desk to the waters edge this hotel leaves nothing out. The free Continental Breakfast gets better and better with every stay. Plenty of beach chairs on a clean stretch of sand and water. The employees are so sweet and accommodating throughout the entire resort from the guards at the front gate who help you cross the busy street to the guards that keep the rift raft away from your chairs. Personnel turnover is minimal at this resort, this leads me to believe that management is not just interested in their guests, but their employees as well. Everything in the resort works, not like some resorts. The hot water flows in the shower, the furniture is not ancient, WiFi is available throughout the resort. Rooms are cleaned by the hardworking housekeeping staff. The restaurant serves a wonderful selection of quality meals. The pools and hot tub are clean, and the property in general is immaculate. As returning guests we are treated to a gift in their gift shop. Bellhop service is as immediate as one could hope for, to and fro. However if they keep up the great work I'll never get a reservation !

  Enjoyable stay

  This was our 3rd visit to Coco la palm. We had a very enjoyable stay. We did plenty of sleeping in, lounging, swimming, eating and drinking. The staff are all friendly and helpful in all departments. The food is delicious and excellently prepared, fresh and hot. We did have drinks from the hotel at various times and during happy hour. We purchased some drinks from the Hi Lo down the road. We also got a case of water and a few items to bring home such as hot sauce, spices and mini rum cakes. We had a taxi bring us back and the Coco staff helped us to the room with our purchases. We had a collapseable cooler and filled it with ice and enjoyed it at the beach. We dined most meals at Coco, but also tried a few of the neighboring restaurants. Our room was always clean and fresh. Tv wasn't the greatest as the speakers were terrible, but we didn't really use it much. Our meals and drinks We charged to our room and paid when we checked out. The charges for our food/drinks wasn't too bad at all. An enjoyable stay once again.

  Welcome Home

  This was our 2nd stay at the Coco LaPalm and when we arrived we were greeted at reception with a hearty "welcome home"! They weren't wrong. Coco LaPalm absolutely is our home away from home. It's clean, secure and the beach is the absolute best. The real stars of our Coco LaPalm experience is the staff. They are so friendly and took such good care of us. We started every day with a wonderful breakfast and outstanding service from Delisha, Claudette and Oesha and the rest of the staff in the open air dining room. I'm already booked for next year.

  Great Service Overall, but Some Staff Professionalism Needs Improvement

  I would like to commend Dennis and Lundee at the beach bar for their exceptional customer service. They were attentive, friendly, and truly enhanced my experience during my stay. Unfortunately, I had a less-than-pleasant interaction with one of the bar backs, Romaine. When I asked him to call over one of the servers whose name I had forgotten, he responded, ‘If you don’t know his name, you shouldn’t call him.’ This comment felt unnecessary and unprofessional. Additionally, I noticed that Romaine seemed to prioritize guests who were either over-tipping or foreign women he appeared to be flirting with, which created an uncomfortable dynamic for other guests, including myself. I believe Romaine could greatly improve the guest experience by focusing on professionalism and equitable service for all patrons rather than selective behavior. Overall, the team at the beach bar is fantastic, but addressing this issue would benefit both guests and staff alike.
