they have let the place go.
It has been a few years since we were there last and time has not been kind. This used to be a favorite place in Puerto Vallarta. The new management has let it go. The room was beach front but there was mildew on the walls, the patio door latch was broken and the air conditioner droned on trying to keep the room cool, it also blew directly on the bed. The bathroom had a loose toilet seat, faucets that were tricky to turn off, the shower has a 2 foot step over and the shower head was 4 feet up so it hit about mid chest. We had no wash clothes or hand towels until the last 2 days of our stay. Outside is peeling paint, the pool needs much attention and the hot tub never did heat. There is less staff and while they try most times there was only one person per bar to serve the whole crowd. They did have a soap party on Friday but for pool entertainment that was it for the whole week. Then there was the food, gone were the wood fired pizza and grilled fish, replaced by over cooked frozen fish in a goopy sauce, chicken that was so overcooked it couldn't be cut with a knife and pork fat ribs all with rice, underdone potatoes and undercook veggies. It was the same for 7 days. The specialty restaurants had little staff, were very slow and the only really good thing we had was the onion soup. They even burned the shrimp at the new restaurant. Drinks were very watered down. I got a vodka tonic made with the unmarked bottle then asked for a straight shot, he got the shot from a bottle of Absolut on the shelf and not the half water mix bottle! We enjoyed the beach and the weather but it is time to move on. We go to Puerto Vallarta every year but this is the last time at the Crown Paradise Golden.

Wouldn't stay here
This hotel looks nothing like the website pictures. I would never recommend this property. Lots of deferred maintenance, the food was very poor, the staff was nice, but the property truly horrible.

Not recommended.
Website pictures are deceiving. Rooms badly in need of renovation. Buffet food poor, caters to Mexican taste. Front desk service very poor.

Really Nice Resort if you look past it's age spots
Let me start by clarifying that we stayed at the Golden, adults only resort. I say this because before my trip I read many reviews under the Golden review page that were obviously for the sister family resort. I also want to add that this resort obviously attracts many more Mexican tourists than it does Canadian or American, so everything on the resort; food, booze and entertainment, is geared more for them. We loved that aspect of it, some may not. Everyone of the staff did speak some English. I will start with the negative, which there is not much of. 1. No bar stays open past 1 am, but there is a club, Monkey Business a block or so away that's open late, 2. The resort disco is only open on the weekends. 3. It is in need of a refresh. Now everything we really liked: 1. Our room, we got really lucky and ended up in the Penthouse suite. I do not know how this happened, but my cousin and his wife, who arrived an hour before we did, asked for rooms together and gave the concierge a few hundred pesos. We spoke to many other people who stayed in the new tower, the one with the rooftop pool, and they had no issues. I also spoke to people who were in the old towers and had some issues, but were quick to add that the front desk staff did all they could to find them a better room. 2. The pools are great, the main pool is heated, so for us Canadians, it was a little too warm by midday. The rooftop pool is not heated and was our afternoon/early evening pool. The view is spectacular and it's never packed. 3. The beach is fantastic, lots of chairs, nice sand and of course, the Pacific ocean which is the perfect temperature for swimming. 4. The food was great. We did the buffet for breakfast every morning and were never let down. Yes it had some repeats, but who can eat too much French toast when it's done so well. And of course there is my fave, the omelete bar! WE ate lunch there a couple of times and really enjoyed it but our favorite lunch was the snackbar at the main pool, great fries, nacos, tacos, hotdogs and burgers. 5. The specialty restaurants, we went to all but the Itallian and enjoyed them all. There were four of us so we would order one of each appetizer and dessert then share. I really liked the steak I had at the International restaurant. 6. The staff. I cannot say enough about the staff, they were all fantastic. Here are a few who stood out for us: At the Concierge desk, Daniel & Ceaser who got us the penthouse and made our reservations for us at the restaurants everyday for us, Ceaser in Security and Ceaser in the Breeze bar. 7. It was VERY clean. For as aged and, honestly worn it is looking, we all found it very clean, everywhere. 8. The entertainment was very well done, the dancers were great, and we looked forward, everyday, to see the show. This is not a high end resort like a Riu or an Iberostar, but you do not pay what you would pay at either of those. it's a fun resort with great staff who provide daily fun at the pool, good food, tasty drinks and friendly service. The location is great and I recommend it to anyone who does not want to spend a mint to spend a week or two at a great resort in PV.

I enjoyed my stay in Mexico 🇲🇽 but the hotel really needs upgrades and better quality of food and choices
