Great winter break
We were book with a room across the street, which has food and pool, but far from beach, restaurants and main entertainment. Ask to be moved to main side and they were able to accommodate us. Room was very nice and plenty of room for clothes in closets & dressers. No reservations needed at restaurants and for the 2 of us there was never a wait. Food was good. Buffet breakfast at the preferred club was never crowded and great view of sea. Entertainment was nice and enjoyed the daily dance at the pool. Had a lot of activities during the day at pool and beach. Enjoyed our stay and will go back again.

Solid 7 out of 10
An honest review from a first time customer and all-inclusive guest. We receive a reasonable price for 4 days and 4 nights through Expedia. Upon arrival we were told that since we booked through Expedia, we did not have "preferred" access of the resort, therefore were limited to what restaurants, beach areas and rooms we can enjoy. The additional fee would be $200USD. This took us by surprise and almost felt like a scam. We declined. Since we declined our rooms were not in the "preferred" area, which means they are about a 1/2 mile walk to the main pool and beach. Not bad for us, but if someone has trouble walking they should know. However, there is the possibility of getting shuttled by golf cart if available. Not terrible, but something to note. We upgraded our room to a King with Tropical view for a few dollars more when booking with Expedia. Well, the topical view was a balcony patio overlooking a service driveway and an overgrown lot of land surrounded by a fence with barbed wire. Tropical? There was also a very heavy smell of sewage gas coming from our lower bathroom which was unpleasant. It happened twice in four days. I ran water in shower and sink and the smell disappeared. Other than that, the room was cool and well stocked with El Presidente, but no bottle opener. The resort exterior, landscape, design, beach, pools etc.. is beautiful and well kept, A+. Pools and swim up bar closes at 6:30pm. The restaurants we had access to in the evening were clean and the staff was A+. The buffet was as expected with a variety of food. Again the staff was good. Coco Cafe was the hidden gem for those with a need for coffee and/or sweet treats. The Barefoot Grill was open all day for burgers dogs and pizza. This was great for the days our group just sat by the pool and swim up bar. Beach volleyball was fun and available daily. Night entertainment available each night. Takeaway: Beautiful resort, plenty of swimming pools. Drink were good and the beer on tap was cold. I'd say the constant attempt to sell the romantic beach dining was annoying. They would be better off putting a note on your door or offering this upon arrival rather than when customers are trying to walk to the beach or enjoy the pool with a few drinks. In the end, the place was very pretty, the weather was beautiful and this experience was a solid 7 out of 10. With better communication, less of an aggressive approach to ancillary sales, a bit more attention to customer service and keeping the pools open a few more hours, I think it could have gone up to 8.5. Oh,oh, oh...also, if drinking bottled water, make sure the bottles are sealed when opening. We have a suspicion the bottles are being recycled with other water. Some did not "crack" when opening. It was on several occasions. Could just be the bottling company, but customers should be aware. Solid 7

Stunning
What an amazing place to visit! Top class from start to finish. Comfortable. Beds, great selection of foods, and a complimentary mini bar in the room. We were also upgraded to a suite free of charge. I couldn't see anything that some previous reviewers complained about. Very friendly staff and a stunning location. Already planning the return trip

It's a friendly place.
The facilities are clean. The entertainment is good. Plenty of activities thru out the day. Foods are just OK. Staffs are friendly. David , my butler, has done a great job serving me. The shower was great. The ocean is rougher than I would expected.

relaxing post cruise stay.
My wife and i have just returned from a lovely, relaxed week at the Dreams Dominicus. We booked the hotel partially because of the short transfer time from the La Romana cruise terminal, following a week cruising. After a quick check in procedure. We were offered the preferred club upgrade for $350. We didn't bother with this. We were a little early for our room, so were directed to the main buffet for a bit of lunch. After lunch we went to our room in block 50, on the upper floor of a two storey building. fairly adjacent to the reception area. nicely appointed rooms, high ceiling gave it an airy feeling. The air con worked perfectly, a definite bonus as it was boiling hot outside all week. Plenty of storage in the room, free mini bar, coffee machine large TV with plenty of channels. We had a well appointed shower room with separate WC. water was always hot. Outside we had a large balcony with table and chairs. Every day we ate breakfast and lunch at the world cafe ( the main buffet). we were always warmly greeted by the lovely girls at the entrance desk. My wife is gluten free, and was able to pre book waffles, pancakes etc for breakfast. The food was pretty good, standard all inclusive fare, with a few cooking stations omelettes, grilled meats etc. The tropical fruit selection was lovely. We always ate at the outside areas, nice and quiet, views over the pool and beach. We thought it was a bit hectic inside. The waiting staff were brilliant, attentive and cheerful. Angela and Elvin in particular stood out for us, our glasses and cups were never empty!! for dinner we ate in the a la carte restaurants. The Asian show restaurant was ok, probably wouldn't cut the mustard on a UK high street. The Italian Portafino was very nice and the French, Bordeaux was our favourite. No booking needed, we always got a nice table, even at busy times (8pm). We didnt go to the BBQ restaurant, although it must have been good as there was always a queue for tables there. We did not feel obliged to tip at any time, although we did tip now and again as the service was so good. There was a bit of up selling going on, special discounts, high priced spa treatments etc but nothing too heavy, a 'no thank you' was normally enough. A couple of times during the week some local jewellery stalls were set up. You did feel like you had to run the gauntlet with these chaps, as they were a bit more persistent, and positioned so you couldn't walk around them. The pools were great, clean warm and large. sunbeds were a little sparce and soon taken up early in the morning. there were very few areas in the shade, and the sun was very hot. The beach and sea were spectacularly beautiful, always managed to get a sunbed on the beach, although again shade was at a premium. The beach and sea were Blue flag standard and of a quality that puts the UK beaches to shame. Stunning white sand and crystal clear sea water. The sea was generally calm but the occasional wave could catch out an unsuspecting nipper. The entertainment team were very good, hard working, good performers. The evening shows were of a high standard in comparison with many we have witnessed in other resorts, the team had a high level of dance skills and never failed to entertain. There are a few mozzies about, even with our full regime of protection, the little blighters still managed to get us. The drinks were of a good standard. Premium brands in the lobby bar, reasonable quality everywhere else. All in all we had a beautiful week, not a massive complex. As English guests we were a small minority amongst mainly north and south Americans. This however did not make us feel any less welcome. We had a great time and were sad when we had to leave. Well done to all the staff.
