    Excellent Resort with great restaurants

Dreams Estrella Resort in Matzlan has amazing facilities and food. They have many special restaurants namely Oceania, Mexican, Italian and Middle Eastern. Specially, the Oceana restaurant, has excellent seafood and very helpful staff. The team Nava, Francisco, Dalia made it special by presenting a cake for my birthday 🎂

    Fun for all!

We (2 families 4 adults, 4 kids) recently stayed at Dreams Mazatlán and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The service was truly exceptional—special shoutouts to Gio M at the pool and Arturo in the World Cafe, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They’re just a couple of the many great staff members we encountered. The food was consistently great across all the restaurants, with a nice variety to keep things interesting throughout our stay. The resort maintained a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, which we really appreciated, yet there were still plenty of activities to keep everyone engaged. Our kids had a fantastic time at the teen and kids clubs, giving us some relaxing moments to ourselves. We stayed as part of the Preferred Club, though we didn’t take full advantage of many of the perks—it was still a great experience overall. One highlight we’d definitely recommend: renting a cabana by the pool. It made the day extra special and comfortable. All in all, we highly recommend this resort for families looking for a mix of relaxation, fun, and top-notch service.

Great meal at the Italian speciality restaurant.Portofino. Jesus provided excellent service. His attentive work made the dining experience a special one us. Jesus is an excellent server and a credit to Dreams Resort. Our meal quality was superb. Hope to return again before our stay is complete.

A VERY Nice March Spring Break

FLIGHTS & TRANSFERS Package was booked entirely through Westjet vacations. Our group included 2 seniors, 4 adults and 2 children under the age of 18. The transfers were approximately 30 minutes each way, with the only stop being the Dreams resort. RESORT Check in was smooth and efficient. Despite not getting a ground floor room as requested, we did get all 3 rooms within a couple of rooms of each other. Overall that resort seemed to be well maintained by Hyatt / Dreams. From what we know, the resort has been open just a little over a year under the Hyatt / Dreams name. They still having growing and staffing challenges. I freely admit my Spanish is nonexistent, so there were a few times language was an issue. However, most of the service staff were pretty good with English. We found the Hyatt app to be useful (personally not very tech savvy) and was relatively easy to move around in and your requests were dealt with in a timely manner for the most part and correctly. Menus were easy to find on the app for each restaurant, or most had hard copies. Wi-Fi was very good throughout the resort. No issues getting connected or staying connected to the Wi-Fi. ROOMS Rooms were spacious and very well maintained, with ample storage for everything. The family of 4 found the room a little tight. Lighting throughout the room was very good, with lots of electrical outlets and USB charging ports. Washrooms were of a good size and good lighting. Towels were plentiful and refreshed daily. The shower was huge and had a separate light. Shower was supplied with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The shower also had a clothesline for drying swimwear at the back. The closets were well light and were supplied with slippers and robes. The balcony was of good size and had 2 chairs on it with cushions with a good view of the pools and the sunsets. The balcony had room for an additional 2 chairs. Each room had a safe for valuables. ROOM SERVICE This is where they need some improvement is needed. There were a couple of times that the ordered breakfast did not arrive at all and one that was the wrong order. Having said that they did rectify the problem nicely. Any maintenance issues (couple minor ones) were handled in a timely manner through their app. BARS There was a very wide selection of beverages for everyone, including kids. The bars at times are somewhat understaffed and depending on which bartender you get, your drinks may or may not be mixed according to your standards. The Manatees and Swim Up bar are staffed by the same people and your wait for a beverage at the Swim up bar might take a while, as both are back-to-back. The lobby bar was never busy while we were there, and service was somewhat better, and the view of the ocean was spectacular. It was an awesome place to have your morning coffee and watch the waves crash onto the shore. The Sports Bar was very loud, but service was good. Minors are not allowed. However, we were in one night and there were minors in there. We took our grandkids in the next evening, and we were asked to leave. Lack of consistency. POOL AREA & SERVICE We found the pool service to be very good. There were very few problems getting the incorrect drink or your food order being forgotten. We did tip for when we received good service and to “encourage” our waiter to stop by more often. Was at the Barefoot Grill one day to order some food for lunch, our waiter took my order said he would deliver, now that is service. We had 2 beach lunches. One with ribs and shrimp and the second with grilled chicken and fish. Very delicious. The lazy river was fun for all, however, the water level was a somewhat low. There were only perhaps 6 float mats available, and they were in poor condition. Strongly recommend taking your own floatation devices. Event staff was willing to blow up the floatation devices. There was a variety of very strong metal lounge cots and chairs, with an over abundance of towels. During the early morning hours people would reserve their cots or chairs with towels and pool toys or books etc. and then disappear for an extended period of time. A couple of times staff was observed removing the towels if it was obvious no one was around using them. RESORT WASHROOMS This is another area they need some improvement is needed. The washrooms near and around the pool areas and the sports bar are not clearly marked. The signage needs to be clearer and larger so that they can be seen from a greater distance. The washroom off the main lobby is not marked at all. I had to ask where it was located. Having said that, they are clean, sufficient lighting and well maintained. There are washrooms behind the Barefoot Grill and down a flight of stairs. As well as 1 handicap washroom behind the Barefoot Grill on the pool level with a ramp to the washroom. One observation made and not an easy thing to accomplish is, there needs to be more washrooms closer to the pool areas. BEACH The beach was red flagged the entire time we were there, as there were very strong undercurrents. A person could walk a long way either North or South from the resort on the hard packed sand. Unfortunately, the sand dunes obstructed any view of the ocean from the cots that were set up just on the East side of the dunes. MAINTENANCE There is a loose railing getting into the big pool and on the stairway to the Coco Café. There were some of the white pool umbrellas that were broken and need replacing. Also, some of the surfaces needed to be redone with an anti-slip product. ENTERTAINMENT The fun casino was a good event. However, the evening entertainment was a disappointment. I do not often recommend places; however, I would look forward to a return stay at Dream Estrella del Mar Mazatlán.
