We wish the food and drinks matched the setting
Great beaches, pool, ocean access, views, location and setting. The resort is very well laid out. The beds are comfortable and everything was clean. Food was average overall, some of the food was great some was not very good at all, drinks were average and inconsistent at different times or different locations. The rooms and some of the amenities are starting to show their age. The evening shows and entertainment were really good(especially the Christmas Eve performances)

Dreams at Christmas
We enjoyed our stay at Dreams. The beach was clean, the hotel was clean, the staff was very friendly, and it was a relaxing holiday. For those of you who have food allergies/intolerances, this is what you should do. We told the concierge our allergies/intolerances. They made us cards to take to the receptionists at the buffet/restaurant. The receptionists then tell the food manager, who then consults with the chefs. We were taken around the buffet and told what we can and cannot eat. If something was needed to be prepared separately, they offered to make it. That was usually not needed because we had many options. ( We tend to like local foods in the countries we travel to.) I would like to point out Roger was exceptional (breakfast and lunch). He was very attentive, friendly, and so helpful. The chefs (including Sandra), and other food managers, were also kind. They patiently answered our questions and knew the ingredients. It is not easy travelling with these restrictions, and they made our stay much less stressful. It was much appreciated by our family. We plan to come back some time!

Stay at Dreams Resort, Huatulco
Except of an unpleasant situation when the housekeeper took a personal item from our room and that hasn't been returned before our leave from the resort, all was good. We still haven't received a reply from the resort Manager. No help from staff

Not living up to the Dreams Brand
This is going to be a long one but I hope to hit some important points to help other travellers. I’ll preface this by saying I’m in Mexico 2-3 times per year, I’ve stayed at multiple Dreams and Secrets throughout Mexico and Dominican. I know how to adjust my expectations when it comes to staying at All Inclusive's. The Good: Beautiful location and beach. The pools and grounds are very well maintained and even though it’s an older resort (almost) everything is extremely clean. Our rooms were well cleaned daily and no issues with the AC The staff are lovely and everyone we encountered was very helpful and we appreciated that they were all working so hard through the Christmas Holidays. We didn’t see a lot of guests tipping which was disappointing. We LOVED the Japanese restaurant. The Bad: For a chain that prides itself on no wristbands or towel cards, they’re actually making it more of a pain by having to SIGN out towels with a signature and room number but they’re not tracking anything coming in. Multiple days I was told i could not have towels or just 2 (even though I was trying to grab some for my parent's) but the attendant was giving them to local people constantly.. that didn’t sit well with me. I’ve never experienced this towel situation at any resort. Towel game is in full swing here, the adult infinity is gone by day break, and most everything gone by 8am The lobby bar ran out of certain alcohols quite frequently in the evenings. The ugly: THE FOOD When booking a Dreams or Secrets, there’s a standard of food you’re used to and you sort of expect to have one a la carte option for lunch like sea salt or the Sea Side Grill. I’m not a fan of buffets and a germaphobe in those situations so it was a major disappointment that every meal for breakfast and lunch is just another sad, cold, greasy, unappetizing buffet with the same food daily. Clearly recycled from previous days. This was the case at the main buffet, the snack restaurant and Sea Side were just merged together for a bigger buffet. I’m not a picky eater either, I’m happy to eat a hot dog or hamburger but both were cold when thrown on the grill infront of me and the bun was dry and stale. I’m in Mexico I expect to be able to find some tacos -there was only one day of a quiet little taco stand by the pool off in a random corner.. how are you supposed to know about these other options? We went to the main buffet ONCE for breakfast and it was chaos, the way other guests were handling food and the table we sat at had food all over the floor. It was so dirty. We had dinner at the Italian and it was just ok, but here again, they have all these nice salad options on the menu but tell you to go serve yourself at the buffet in the Italian.. Conclusion We stayed at Secrets Huatulco and really enjoyed it, we definitely didn’t think there would be that much of a difference in the two. If you can do adult only just go up the road. Don’t trust the Hyatt branding for this one.

Great experience! Loved it!
Spent 2 weeks teaching yoga with Fit Bodies at this beautiful resort overlooking the bay. Pools were clean, beach is fantastic, and the Christmas decorations very festive! Huge shout-out to the E-Team: Nadxiellii, Aldna, Luis, Gabriel, Aeucario, & Neftaly for their positive energy, hard-work and 10 AM poolside Spanish lessons. Mucho gracias! Enjoyed the World Buffet breakfasts; really appreciated Eliel’s friendly, attentive service. Thank you to Antonio and the delicious seafood at Oceana restaurant. The Asado and Cultural evenings were wonderful. We will return!
